Hawaii scores 17 runs in Big West Opener
The Hawaii Baseball team traveled to California to take on UC Riverside in the 1st Big West Conference series of the season.
Hawaii and UC Riverside started off red hot as both teams scored 2 runs in the first inning.
The Highlanders would go on to score 1 run in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd, while UH would only score 2 more runs in the 1st 3 innings.
But from the 4th inning on, it was all Rainbow Warriors. Hawaii scoring 9 total runs between the 4th and 5th innings.
The 'Bows kept the hot start through the end of the game, as Hawaii scored 3 insurance runs in the 9th to take down UC Riverside 17-5.
The 17 total runs is the season-high for Hawaii this year.
Shunsuke Sakaino led the team with 4 hits.
