The parkland area stretches over 960 hectares and it is an oak forest with a plethora of wildlife including deer, porcupines and foxes. Food is also cheap, with a three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant costing £29.12 on average. All flights will be operated using the latest-generation Airbus A321neo aircraft. WizzAir also recently announced a new route between Birmingham and Rome, Italy, which is due to commence service on June 16. The flights will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One woman flew to Romania for a spa holiday with her mum – it was cheaper than the UK even with return flights. A new flight is set to give autumn city breakers something to cheer about, including access to one of Europe's most historical regions - with the added bonus of bargain pints too. Wizz Air has this week announced it's set to offer flights from Birmingham to Sibiu in Romania twice a week from October - and getting a beer in the culturally rich city will set tourists back just £1.85. The Midlands hub has seen the Hungarian airline launch a raft of new flights from there, with four new routes on offer, including Italian city break favourite Rome. October is a timely month to launch the Sibiu route too, for the city is in the heart of Transylvania, where Bram Stoker's blood-thirsty Dracula resided. Launching three days before Halloween, on October 28th, the route is set to start from £17.99 for a one-way ticket. While Romania's Transylvania region might be most famous as the home of the mythical Count, there 's plenty of other attractions for tourists to sink their teeth into - with beautiful hiking, hearty food and picturesque towns and villages. Indeed, King Charles loves the region so much that he owns a home there, and has been visiting the region to take a breather from royal life for decades. The monarch secretly bought a run-down former farmhouse in Zalanpatak, close to the Carpathian Mountains, several years ago with the help of local landowner Count Kalnoky. The airline has launched four new routes from the Midlands' hub in recent months Sibiu itself is teeming with Saxon heritage; a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's famous for striking, colourful buildings, great value food and local Ursus beer. According to recent research by Finder, Romania is the tenth cheapest place to enjoy a pint of the cold stuff in Europe, with a glass of beer costing just £1.85, significantly less than London's average pint, which comes in at £6.75. Wizz Air has become a major player in the low-cost flights market in recent years, recently announcing its £12 billion Customer First Compass transformation plan, which aims to put passengers at the heart of its future plans. Wizz Air Corporate Communications Manager, Olivia Harangozó, said of the new destination: 'We are excited to add this new route to our operations from Birmingham. 'Sibiu is one of Europe's hidden gems, and we are delighted to give Brits more opportunities to visit this city and experience its - and Romania's - rich history and vibrant culture.' It's been a busy week for airline launches from the Midlands with TUI announcing plans to relaunch direct flights from East Midlands Airport to a leading African beach destination. The carrier will offer flights to Sharm El Sheikh on Mondays and Thursdays from March 2026. The direct route to Egypt from the East Midlands was last offered in 2023 but will be brought back due to 'strong customer demand'. TUI's UK and Ireland commercial director Chris Logan, said: 'Due to strong customer demand, we are thrilled to once again connect the East Midlands with the stunning Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh. 'With hundreds of amazing hotels to choose from and guaranteed sunshine, Sharm El Sheikh is the perfect destination for a summer holiday.
