Jun 04, 2025 Just in time for Eid Al-Adha, Yango Play is treating users to a festive surprise with the exclusive digital premiere of 'Siko Siko', the hit Egyptian comedy-action film. Still showing in cinemas, 'Siko Siko' has already pulled in over EGP 181 million and SAR 3.5 million in just eight weeks. Written by Mohamed El Dabbah and directed by Omar El Mohandes, the film stars rising stars Essam Omar and Taha Dessouky, along with Ali Sobhi, Tara Emad, Diana Hisham, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and Mahmoud Sadeq Hadouta. It also features cameos by Bassem Samra and Khaled El Sawy. The story follows two young men: one works at a shipping company, while the other is a video game addict. Their lives are turned upside down when they find themselves caught in a whirlwind of danger, chaos, and high-stakes misadventures. With its blend of action and comedy, the film has struck a chord with audiences across the region. Egyptian comedy 'Siko Siko' topped Saudi Arabia's box office for the first week of May 2025, surpassing major international contenders like Marvel's 'Thunderbolts' and 'Sinners'. According to figures shared by Turki Al Alshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, cinemas across the Kingdom generated SAR 20.7 million in revenue from 417,500 tickets sold across 48 films. The weekly chart reflects a diverse blend of regional and global titles, with Siko Siko claiming the top spot with SAR 3.6 million. Siko Siko | Egypt (SAR 3.6 million) Directed by Omar El Mohandes and written by Mohamed El Dabbah, this Egyptian comedy stars Taha Desouky, Essam Omar, Khaled El Sawy, Basem Samra, and Tara Emad. The film follows a series of absurd misadventures and has quickly become a regional box office favourite. Yara Sameh Egyptian stars Taha Desouky and Essam Omar's comedy film "Siko Siko" has continued to dominate the box office and garnered EGP 141 million 24 days after it was released in cinemas. "Siko Siko" boasts a cast that includes Tara Emad, Bassem Samra, Ali Sobhy, Khaled El Sawy, Diana Hisham, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and more. Omar El Mohandes helmed the film from a script by Mohamed El Dabbah, which took two years of writing and production to come to light and was initially set to be a TV series before it turned into a film. 'Siko Siko' is a social comedy that revolves around "Two cousins, both from a middle-class background, finally see their dream come true when their inheritance is rightfully returned to them following their uncle's death. Soon after, and to their shock, they discover that the inheritance is in the form of illegal goods. In order to liquidate these goods, they create an elaborate mobile game in order to sell the goods through it. They call this game… 'Siko Siko'. The cousins enjoy a brief moment of spectacular success before a mob boss appears in their lives, and claims to be the real owner of the goods!". The feature marks Desouky and Omar's first major role in a film. "Siko Siko" Becomes Second Highest-Grossing Egyptian Film of all Time
Yara Sameh Egyptian stars Taha Desouky and Essam Omar's comedy film "Siko Siko" has become the 2nd highest earning film in Egyptian cinema. Flying past Beit El Ruby's EGP 129 million gross from 2023, the pic has grossed EGP 135 million three weeks after it was released in cinemas. 'Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya' (EGP 260 million), 'El Hareefa: Al Remontada' (EGP 127 million), "Kira & El Gin" (EGP 117 million), and "The Blue Elephant 2" (EGP 103 million) are now the only films ahead of 'Siko Siko' in terms of the highest-grossing films of all time at the Egyptian box office.
