What Georgia transfer guard Silas Demary Jr. brings to UConn

What Georgia transfer guard Silas Demary Jr. brings to UConn Following their first-round exit from the NCAA March Madness tournament, the Georgia Bulldogs have seen some offseason roster changes. Starting point guard Silas Demary Jr. initially announced his plans to explore both the NBA draft and the transfer portal, and he has now revealed his new college team. He was set on visiting four schools who could be in national championship contention. After he visited the UConn Huskies, he committed to the Huskies for the 2025-2026 college basketball season. Having just come off back-to-back national titles before their second-round exit against Florida in March Madness, the UConn Huskies always place a high value on talented guards. From Kemba Walker to front-runner for the NBA rookie of the year Stephon Castle to projected lottery pick Liam McNeely, the Huskies have a solid track record for producing good guard play that translates to the NBA. Demary Jr. brings scoring (UGA's second-leading scorer), length (6-foot-5) and experience (rising junior) to UConn. He should fit well into UConn head coach Dan Hurley's system. Demary's strong play at the end of the season helped Georgia basketball get off the NCAA Tournament bubble and make March Madness for the first time in a decade. Demary Jr. scored at least 15 points in each of Georgia's last 10 games and he scored over 20 points in four of those contests. He flashed serious scoring potential down the stretch. Now, he can go into a guard-led system to tap more into his potential as he hopes to make a deeper NCAA Tournament run with UConn.

Georgia basketball transfer guard visiting 4 national championship contenders

Georgia basketball transfer guard visiting 4 national championship contenders Georgia Bulldogs basketball transfer point guard Silas Demary Jr. is wasting no time evaluating his transfer portal options. Demary Jr. is reportedly visiting with four potential transfer destinations and each of them are college basketball powerhouses.. Demary Jr. entering the transfer portal is a big loss for Georgia basketball. He could still return to UGA, but that seems unlikely. Demary Jr. led Georgia in assists (3.1) and steals (1.7) during the 2024-2025 college basketball season and helped the Bulldogs make their first NCAA Tournament in a decade. Demary Jr., a rising junior, was Georgia's second-leading scorer. Demary Jr. is one of three Georgia Bulldogs in the transfer portal. The Dawgs could lose six of their top seven scorers from the 2024-2025 season. What schools will Demary Jr. be visiting? St. John's Red Storm Head coach Rick Pitino and the St. John's Red Storm advanced to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament and was a No. 2 seed in March Madness before suffering an upset loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. St. John's lost star guard RJ Luis to the transfer portal and is looking to replace his production. St. John's hosted Demary Jr. on March 31. Demary Jr. is ranked as the No. 4 point guard in the transfer portal, per 247Sports. He is the No. 12 overall transfer. BYU Cougars The BYU Cougars advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament before suffering an embarrassing loss to Alabama. BYU signed the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2025 and is not afraid to offer big name, image and likeness deals. Duke is in the middle of a Final Four run, so it is unlikely they'll host Demary Jr. until after that concludes. The Blue Devils consistently have an elite team and are always looking for the best talent. Demary Jr. will have two seasons of eligibility left wherever he ends up. Duke is expected to have a lot of top talent depart for the 2025 NBA draft this offseason. UConn Huskies The Connecticut Huskies won back-to-back national championships before Florida eliminated UConn in the second-round of March Madness. The Huskies are always looking for guard guard play. Demary Jr. scored at least 15 points in each of Georgia's last 10 games and he scored over 20 points in four of those contests. Georgia Bulldogs basketball 2025 transfer portal tracker

Georgia Bulldogs basketball 2025 transfer portal tracker The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to make a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025-2026. However, Georgia basketball will have to try to do it with almost an entirely new team. The Bulldogs have three players in the transfer portal as of March 31. Georgia is expected to lose starting point guard Silas Demary Jr., forward RJ Godrey and guard De'Shayne Montgomery this offseason. This trio has all entered the transfer portal. Players that enter the portal can return to Georgia, but generally most players end up transferring out. Georgia is also projected to lose starting center Asa Newell to the 2025 NBA draft. Newell is a projected lottery pick and was UGA's leading scorer and rebounder last season. Georgia senior guards Tyrin Lawrence and Dakota Leffew are both out of eligibility. This means that six of Georgia's seven leading scorers from 2024-2025 are not expected to return with the lone exception being guard Blue Cain (9.6 points per game), who is yet to announce his future. Georgia and head coach Mike White has several targets in the portal. It is clear that Georgia will have a ton of playing time to offer to incoming transfers. Georgia basketball transfer portal tracker Point guard Silas Demary Jr. Georgia's starting point guard Silas Demary Jr. entered the transfer portal and the 2025 NBA draft. Demary was UGA's second-leading scorer (13.5 points per game) in 2024-2025. Demary was Georgia's team leader in assists (3.1) and steals (1.7) per game. He has not committed to a new school. Forward RJ Godfrey RJ Godfrey, a Clemson transfer, averaged 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 19.5 minutes per game in his lone season at Georgia. Godfrey has excellent size, but is not a great shooter. He did not play over 20 minutes in any of Georgia's games this March. Guard De'Shayne Montgomery De'Shayne Montgomery was academically ineligible for a good chunk of the season. The sophomore averaged 6.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 15.7 minutes per game. The Gonzaga game was the only time he played since Georgia's Feb. 15 loss to Missouri, so his decision to enter the transfer portal does not come as much of a surprise.
