The Silent Hill 2 Team Up Between Bloober Team and KONAMI Continues With a New Game
The success of Silent Hill 2 continues to weigh on KONAMI and Bloober Team, so much so that both companies have decided to continue to work together on a new game.
The success of the Silent Hill 2 cannot be understated. Before the remake launched, KONAMI's latest ventures into the supernatural town of Silent Hill included a now-defunct interactive experience called Silent Hill: Ascension, and before that, the poorly received Silent Hill: Downpour, which was released in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Thankfully, riding the coattails of the successful remake appears to be in KONAMI and Bloober Team's best interest as both companies have agreed to join forces once more and develop a new game (that has not been confirmed as another Silent Hill).
On the official Bloober Team website, the company released a statement that both Bloober Team and KONAMI have signed a new agreement for a 'joint project.' While the announcement does list accolades for the previous team-up release, Silent Hill 2, the only other information given to audiences is that it will be 'a new game based on KONAMI's IP.'
CEO of Bloober Team, Piotr Babieno, says, 'Our collaboration with KONAMI has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of Silent Hill 2 speaks for itself. By sharing knowledge and experience, we have been able to create high-quality production together. Of course, we can't reveal too many details at this time, but we are confident that fans will be just as excited about our collaboration as we are. We can't wait to share something truly special with players when the time is right,' in the announcement statement regarding the continued partnership with KONAMI.
CGMagazine's review of Silent Hill 2 called it 'Silent Hill 2, as you remember it, but better in nearly every way.' Metacritic median scores from critics (and fans) have given the title an incredibly positive rating, with 86% coming from a critical sample size of 104. Fans have largely agreed with the positive sentiment, giving the title a staggering 92% on over 3,000 individual reviews.
While it hasn't been confirmed that Bloober and KONAMI are working on another Silent Hill title, it has been confirmed they're working with KONAMI's IP.
