Tech review: Levoit Core Mini Air Purifier helps tackle hay fever and dust with minimal noise

Any product that promises to improve people's air quality is certainly worth a look, especially like me when you live in an older house and one with two pets. My wife also suffers from hay fever and has asthma, so we are probably the perfect Unlike many air purifiers that are on the market, this one from Levoit is a mini version of a bigger product. The compact nature of the device means that it doesn't sit too overpowering in any environment whether it's a bedroom or a kitchen. I sat it in the living room when I was testing it, and the first thing I noticed was that even on the most powerful setting it was very quiet, unnoticeable on the lower settings. That ensured that it was really unobtrusive when the tv was on or we were chatting to each other, it also means you could happily put it in a bedroom without worrying about being disturbed. The purpose of the air purifier is to remove dust particles, pet dander, pollen, and, of course, odours. The Core mini claims to be able to purify 17㎡ in just half an hour using 360° VortexAir 3.0 technology and a 3-stage filtration system. The advice is to change the filters every 4-6 months and you will get a notification on the unit's display screen to check them. There is advice in the instruction booklet on how to clean the filters and when they need replacing, and how to do so. I haven't been using it for long enough, but we have had it on the go for a couple of weeks and myself and my wife feel like we can notice a difference in the air quality. I always find it hard to gauge the actual success of these things and there is an element of trusting the science. The size of the item is about the same as a rugby ball, and probably about the same weight. It's very portable, very easy to use, and only has a power button and three settings. That's my kind of gadget. The other option you have with the purifier is a little slot that you push in to expose a fabric pad, you can add essential oils to that to give it an aromatherapy vibe. The Levoit Core Mini Air Purifier is currently available via Amazon UK for £49.99. Reviews "Really good, Doesn't use much electricity , is very compact and light weight ease to put into a busy room. No allergens, I have had it for months now lifespan is great no fault in it so far. There is 3 different speeds i enjoy the cool breeze from the highest speed great for a warm day. Very quiet as well great to leave on while you sleep." "I've been using for two weeks now and do not notice a difference at all in air quality to breathe in etc like people have been saying it's like mountain air? OK... Its not." "It's helped with dust particles some what but not all which is fine I guess. I used to have to clean my keyboard once a day when I got back from work with an air duster etc but now I only rly need to do it Once per 2-3days now."
