Held in Malaysia for working sans permit, Andhra youth awaits repatriation
Hyderabad: The High Commission of India in Malaysia is working on getting an Indian worker from Andhra Pradesh repatriated back home after he was jailed for allegedly violating employment norms. Karipam Pawan, 23, from Thigacharla village in Nellore district, was arrested at a resort in Malaysia for not having valid documents for work. Pawan and his brother Simhadri, 22, were promised jobs abroad by an agent, but after landing in Malaysia on June 26, 2024, the brothers were not provided with work permits. On being informed about the plight of the two workers by the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), the Federation of NRI Cultural Associations in Malaysia president Bureddy Mohan Reddy followed up the case with the High Commission, writing to them about it in Jan this year. With the intervention of the High Commission, Simhadri returned to India in March this year, but Pawan is yet to be released. Mohan Reddy told TOI that the High Commission is pursuing Pawan's case to get him released and repatriated. Both the brothers were said to have paid 50,000 to an agent who promised them jobs in Malaysia. However, in Dec last year, they were reportedly arrested by the Malaysian authorities for working without permits.

Telugu star NT Rama Rao Jr, commonly referred to as Jr NTR or Tarak, is known for his remarkable performances in several films like Aadi, Simhadri, RRR and Janatha Garage. To mark this key milestone, the makers of his highly anticipated film, tentatively titled NTRNeel, unveiled a new poster. The poster features NTR with a radiant smile against the blue backdrop that reads 'Man of Masses NTR stepping into 25th year in Indian cinema.' Along with the electrifying poster, it wrote, 'Need we say more? N.T.R – Never Tamed Rage #NTRNeel #25YearsOfNTR @tarak9999." The actor is shooting for the magnum opus with director Prashanth Neel, which is scheduled to hit theatres on June 25, 2026. The film, which is originally shot in Telugu, will be dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam. Earlier, the producer Mythri Movie Makers announced the release date of the film in a social media post. Taking to Instagram, it wrote, 'A Massacre by the dynamic duo delivers a notice for a havoc-filled experience, 25 June, 2026. You'll hear the loudest chants! #NTRNeel. A Special glimpse for the Man of Masses @tarak9999's birthday." The upcoming film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with NTR Arts, NTRNeel. In addition to NTRNeel, the actor is gearing up for a Bollywood debut with War 2, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the upcoming film is officially the sixth entry in the expanding YRF Spy Universe. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 14. Seven get life imprisonment for murder in 18 months
Chirala: The III Additional District and Sessions Judge in Ongole, A Purnima, has sentenced seven individuals to life imprisonment in a murder case under the Chirala Rural Police Station jurisdiction. The verdict was delivered in just 18 months after the crime occurred. The case involved the murder of Mosa Suribabu (34) from Vadarevu village in Chirala mandal. According to the complaint filed by Chodipilli Eliyamma, the victim's sister, Suribabu had lent three lakh rupees to the prime accused, Pikki Simhadri. Despite repeated requests, Simhadri refused to return the money. Additionally, rumours of an illicit relationship between Suribabu and Simhadri's wife, Pikki Shanti, had been circulating. To get rid of Suribabu permanently, Pikki Simhadri, Pikki Shanti, their relatives and friends, Bondi David Raju, Pikki Raju, Pikki Anand, Pikki Sattamma, and Orupula Manikyarao conspired to murder Suribabu. On October 10, 2023, they lured the victim to Simhadri's house for dinner and brutally attacked him with rods, pipes, and sticks. When Suribabu failed to return home, Eliyamma went to Simhadri's home for him and discovered the crime. Inspector P Janardhana Rao of Chirala Rural Police Station registered case number 300/2023 under sections 302, 201 R/w 34 IPC. The investigation officer, then-Circle Inspector Mallikarjuna Rao, collected crucial evidence and arrested the accused on October 15, 2023. Inspector G Soma Sekhar filed the charge sheet on December 30, 2023. Each convict has been fined Rs 2,000 along with the life imprisonment sentence. Bapatla SP Tushar Dudi said that such verdicts instil fear in those contemplating criminal acts and praised the investigation team, including DSP Moin, CI Seshagiri Rao, court liaison officers, and Public Prosecutor KV Rameswar Reddy for their thorough work.
