Morrisons, Asda, and Aldi issue emergency product recalls as millions warned of safety concerns

Three major supermarkets have all all made emergency product recalls, with urgent warnings sent out to millions of consumers. Morrisons is the latest store to announce a recall via the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website. This is due to a problem with sausages. Morrisons is offering refunds to affected customers without any need for a receipt, while Asda and Aldi have similarly distributed warnings through the FSA earlier in the week. Scots customers are encouraged to bring back products involved in these alerts to their local stores . Products may be withdrawn or recalled when there's a risk to buyers, such as missing or incorrect allergen information. Or when any different allergy-related issue arises. Should there be concerns about food allergies, the FSA steps in to issue an Allergy Alert, alerting the general populace, reports Birmingham Live . At times, an issue pops up with a food item that makes it unsuitable for sale. That item might be 'withdrawn' - yanked from the aisles - or 'recalled' - calling for customers to return the item. Morrisons has urgently pulled its Morrisons The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages 400g off the shelves, which carries a best before date of May 1, 2025. "Morrisons is recalling the above product with Use By 01 May because there is a risk that some packs may contain small pieces of blue plastic," the supermarket said. "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need a receipt." A spokesperson stated: "No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety." Meanwhile, Asda is recalling its Asda Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices since the product's label may neglect to note the presence of milk and sulphites. For people with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites or an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, this may present a health risk. Some packs may also include Asda Simple To Cook Tomato and Mozzarella Pork Meatballs by accident. Consumers who have purchased the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, are encouraged not to consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was purchased to obtain a full refund. Elsewhere, Aldi is recalling Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter because the label does not mention milk as an ingredient. For people with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, the product may pose health risks. Aldi has been advised to liaise with relevant allergy support organisations, who will inform their members about the recall. Notices will be displayed at all retail outlets selling this product, explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on what to do if they have purchased the product. Customers who have bought the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to the store from which it was purchased for a full refund.
