Simu Liu Is Engaged To Girlfriend Allison Hsu
Big day for Marvel fans, Canadians, and really anyone who's chronically online! We've got another celeb proposal to discuss. Yep, that's right: Simu Liu, our very own Ken, is officially engaged! So let's answer the big question: who's the lucky lady? Well. Her name is Allison Hsu, and she works for Interscope Records, leading marketing initiatives for A-list singers like Lady Gaga. She also made Forbes' 30 Under 30 list in 2022. It was around that same year, 2022, that she and Simu hard-launched their relationship on Instagram — so we can estimate the pair has been together for three years. And now, for the announcement! "Us forever 💍💍💍🤍🤍🤍," Simu and Allison captioned a carousel of photos they posted together on Instagram. The proposal happened in Paris, which is just SO perfect. Of course, TONS of celebs rushed to the comments to wish the pair congrats (as if the proposal itself didn't warm my heart enough!) — including Florence Pugh, Rachel Zegler, Gracie Abrams, Ken list goes on. So let's all wish these two a big congrats, shall we? And I'd also like to thank them for reinforcing the hope that I, a non-famous individual, might actually marry a Marvel superhero one day. Simu Liu is engaged to Allison Hsu. The 36-year-old actor has taken to social media to announce his engagement to Allison, revealing that he proposed to the marketing director during a trip to Paris. Alongside a series of photos featuring Allison's sparkling engagement ring, Simu wrote on Instagram: "Us forever [ring and heart emojis] (sic)" In the photos, the loved-up couple are seen embracing each other in front of the Eiffel Tower. In a separate post, Simu said: "From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always." Allison wrote in reply: "I love you fiance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sic)" [embed] Simu — who is best known for playing Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — has already been inundated with congratulatory messages from some of his showbiz pals. And the Hollywood star opened up about their relationship in 2023, telling People that he felt a sense of relief after meeting Allison. Simu told the magazine: "I think everyone knows the feeling of being in a situation where they're not fully happy, and then all of a sudden for that to change... it's such a breath of relief. "It's this feeling of 'Oh, right, it does exist.' You start to feel like, okay, maybe I've just been conditioned to want something that doesn't exist or I have unrealistic expectations." Simu also revealed that he'd love to have children with Allison one day. He said: "I definitely see kids in my future. I would be surprised if I was not a father ten years from now. Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd and other Avengers assemble for MCU movie night
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) got a splash of real-life star power when several key cast members from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday reunited for a special screening of the recently released film from the MCU, Thunderbolts*. Actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, shared a photo on Instagram on Friday, capturing the superhero-studded moments. Joining Simu for the movie night were fellow MCU veterans Winston Duke, Paul Rudd, Robert Downey Jr., Channing Tatum, Chris Hemsworth, and Anthony Mackie. The group posed together in front of the Thunderbolts* logo, radiating both camaraderie and excitement. "It's movie night with the boys … get your tix! #thunderbolts*" Liu captioned the post. Robot takes lead in a dazzling dance show at SCRF
As music filled the air, a robotic figure took centre stage beside a nimble performer to present 'Dancing With a Robot' - a futuristic performance blending technology and movement. Behind the act was Daniel Simu, a 33-year-old circus artist from the Netherlands who describes himself as 'an acrobat first, and a robot maker second.' Daniel's creation, 'Acrobot' (a robot who performs acrobatics) is a 3D-printed humanoid robot that performs pre-programmed choreography alongside him in a way that feels almost human. Though the robot can't see, hear or interact in real-time, Simu's performance created the illusion of intelligence through clever choreography, timing, and visual design. Daniel built the robot entirely by himself during the pandemic, teaching himself 3D printing, programming, and mechanical engineering through YouTube and trial and error. 'My first version fell apart after two shows,' he said. 'But I kept learning. I wanted something that looked like a machine, not a person. So the mechanics are visible – people can see the wires and gears. That sparks curiosity.' And spark it did. Children rushed to ask questions after the show – about the motors, the battery, even the type of microcontroller used. 'I was amazed at how tech-savvy the kids are here,' Daniel said. 'Some of them knew what Arduino and 3D printing were. That's rare.' While this is technically an acrobatics routine, the robot's precise movements and Simu's fluid transitions give it the grace of dance – complete with hints of salsa, tango and freestyle movement. Performing two shows a day during his three-day visit to Sharjah, Daniel said he was thrilled to be part of the festival. 'This is my first time in the UAE,' he said. 'It's a different rhythm from Europe, but the energy here at the festival – especially from the kids – is incredible.' Simu will perform the show twice again on Saturday, April 26 before flying back home.
