Telangana: Singareni to venture into other minerals and crucial minerals field
Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Singareni Collieries company (SCCL) Limited, a government-owned-coal mining corporation in India, has decided to venture into the field of other minerals and crucial minerals. We have already established consulting agencies and initiated studies on opportunities, said Singareni Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) after hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day celebrations held at Kothagudem. The central government also gives high priority to the production of key minerals, and accordingly, Singareni has decided to enter this sector, he said. Recently, an understanding was reached to jointly produce key minerals in Australia's Queensland as a joint venture company, not just within the country but internationally as well, he informed. Under this agreement, in addition to the 1200 MW thermal power currently being produced by Singareni Thermal Power Plant, we are planning to establish another 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant at the same location, he said. Similarly, in the coming future, we will set up another 1600 MW plant near Naini Block (Odisha) and with this, our total thermal power generated by Singareni will exceed 4000 MW, he said. We are also planning to complete two phases of solar power plants totaling 504 MW within Singareni, including a 300 MW floating solar plant above Manair Dam and another 500 MW floating solar plant above Mallanna Sagar, he informed. Studies have also begun on the construction of pumped storage power plants and wind power generation, he said. Near Manuguru area, at Pagiduru, a geothermal power plant has already been constructed experimentally and electricity production has commenced, the CMD said based on this, the management has decided to establish a 200-megawatt geothermal plant there as well. Govt plans to expand Singareni on a global scale
Kothagudem: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the State government is planning to expand Singareni on a global scale in an extraordinary manner. During the inauguration of the Singareni GM office and workshop in Kothagudem on Saturday, Bhatti mentioned that the government has engaged experts to collect vital data and suggestions for this expansion. He noted, 'Once we have the report, we will proceed with the action plan. With its century-long experience, Singareni is being evaluated for profitable opportunities in technical and mineral extraction.' The Deputy Chief Minister added that new mines are set to produce 22 million tonnes of coal over the next 30 years. 'The main objective is to ensure the safety of Singareni workers, with business being a secondary concern. In the event of an accidental death of a Singareni worker, we offer accident insurance coverage of Rs 1 crore, as well as compassionate appointments. This initiative sets a new precedent in the country's history,' stated Bhatti.

Govt implementing schemes, land rights measures for SC/ST communities: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said the previous BRS govt did not utilise the SC/ST sub-plan funds meant for the communities, but the incumbent Congress govt was spending every rupee of the sub-plan funds for the development of SC and ST communities in the state. "Under the sub-plan, 17,169 crore was allocated for the STs. Additionally, 1,296 crore unspent funds from the past were carried forward. To understand the needs of tribal communities, we brought together tribal leaders and launched training programmes to implement solutions. When lands assigned to the poor were being grabbed under the 'Dharani' system of the previous BRS govt, we protested. We pledged to throw Dharani into the Bay of Bengal and came to power with that promise. Now, we've introduced the Bhu Bharati Act to ensure land rights to tribals," he said. Bhatti said that 1,000 crore was allocated exclusively for tribals under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Self-Employment Scheme and the Indira Solar Tribal Development Scheme was also launched to help tribal farmers live with dignity. Plans are afoot to expand the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on a global scale in a phenomenal manner, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, also Energy and Finance Minister. Speaking after inaugurating the SCCL General Manager's office and a workshop in the coal town of Kothagudem, on Saturday, he said, 'We have appointed experts to gather the necessary information and make recommendations for this expansion. Once we receive the report, we will initiate the action plan.' Mr. Vikramarka said, 'SCCL, with over a hundred years of experience in coal mining, is being considered for profitable ventures in technical and mineral excavation.' New mines are ready to extract 22 million tonnes of coal over the next 30 years, he noted, referring to the expansion and diversification plans of SCCL. Emphasising on the safety and welfare of the workforce, he said, 'The primary goal is the safety of Singareni workers – business comes only after that. SCCL is providing ₹1 crore accident insurance cover along with compassionate appointments to SCCL workers.' Meanwhile, addressing the Telangana Adivasi Congress workers' meeting in Palvancha, he hit out at the previous BRS government accusing it of failing to utilise the SC/ST Sub-Plan funds. 'In the current Praja government, we are spending every rupee of Sub-Plan funds with precision. Under the Sub-Plan, ₹17,169 crore has been allocated for tribals this fiscal. Additionally, ₹1,296 crore unspent funds from the past have been carried forward,' he said. In 2006, the then Congress-led Central government issued land titles to tribals cultivating forest lands, he recalled, adding that the current Congress dispensation in Telangana allocated funds for tribals to live with dignity in line with the party's Nallamala Declaration. He reminded that during his tenure as Deputy Speaker in united Andhra Pradesh, he ensured that the SC/ST Sub-Plan Act was passed in the Assembly. He added that the Indira Saura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme envisages irrigation facilities to 6.7 lakh acres of tribal land besides offering free pumpsets and plants like avocado and oil palm. Allocation of ₹1,000 crore for tribals under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme is a historic first in India, he asserted.

Over 23 lakh took holy dip during Saraswati Pushkaralu
Hyderabad: Over 23 lakh people had a sacred bath during the Saraswati Pushkaralu, which ended on Monday at Kaleshwaram in Bhupalpally disrtict. More than one lakh people had a bath at the Triveni Sangam in Kaleshwaram on each of the 12 days with pilgrim rush peaking during the weekends. Endowment department officials and others heaved a sigh of relief as the event passed off without any untoward incident. The state government had put in place massive arrangements to ensure the success of the Pushkaralu. To bring it on par with the Kumbh Mela, the government allocated Rs 35 crore exclusively for the event. Incidentally, a team of officials, led by Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyar, had visited Prayagraj for a first-hand feel of the arrangements. This helped the state administration to come up with a meticulous planning, said a senior official from the endowments department. The official said that Pushkaralu started on a grand note with around one lakh taking a bath on the first day on May 15. The rush of pilgrims increased thereafter with the weekends drawing two to 3.5 lakh people. There was a traffic jam of over 20 km on the weekends. The official said that the Harati program on the banks of the river was a major attraction during the Pushkaralu. Artists from Kashi were specifically roped in for the Harati program, which was watched by around 47,000, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Meanwhile, the pilgrims also visited the Sri Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy temple. Approximately, 2.68 lakh laddus were distributed by the temple authorities, who also arranged for medical camps, which was taken advantage of by around 80, 000 people. The official informed that among the other works, sanitation and hygiene were given priority. Over 950 sanitation workers were deployed for cleaning the premises near the river, while about 33 NDRF and 66 SDRF personnel, 100 swimmers and 35 Singareni rescue team personnel were also deployed at the bathing ghats to prevent instances of drowning. Also manning the area were around 1600 police personnel.
