Sioux City business park certified by state for industrial development
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A Sioux City-owned business park has received a certified designation from the state of Iowa, setting the land up for further industrial development.
According to a release from the city, Southbridge Business Park has been certified through the Iowa Economic Development Authority's Iowa Certified Site Program. This means that, among other benefits, the park meets or exceeds certain national standards, making it more attractive to developers.

'The City Council understands the importance of being shovel-ready in attracting new industrial projects to our community,' Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott said in a statement. 'For years, we've been a regional leader in industrial development, thanks to the City's proactive planning and our ongoing commitment to creating new industrial sites.'
The Southbridge Business Park is made up of 272 acres of industrial property south of the Sioux Gateway Airport. Of the park's four properties, one was certified in 2019, with the other three being newly certified.

According to the release, the Iowa Certified Site Program was created in 2012 to help economic development organizations throughout the state prepare land for industrial development. It works with South Carolina-based consulting firm Quest Site Solutions to help sites meet standards such as proper transportation and utility infrastructure.
Some developers have already settled in the Southbridge Business Park, such as Sabre Industries and Cold-Link Logistics.
