The duo is currently lodged in the central prison, Vizag city, following their judicial remand for 14 days. A senior police officer said they have filed a petition in the court for police custody of the duo for 10 days to continue with the investigation in the major case. The court gave the custody of the duo for seven days on Thursday night. Siraj and Syed Sameer have been booked under UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act and various sections under BNS. The police said the custody of the duo was necessary to expose their alleged links with the few other people as they were apparently in touch with their handler who operates from a country in the Middle East for the past one year through social media accounts. The police custody is also necessary to know the exact plans of Siraj and Syed, the police added.
