Orlando Pirates eyeing highly-rated youngster amid Saleng saga!
Orlando Pirates have already made themselves busy ahead of the upcoming offseason window, and it seems the next player in their sights is Zimbabwean 16-year-old Prince Ndlovu. 'He (Ndlovu) trained with Pirates in March 2023 and and at that time he was only 16-years-old. He was preparing to go to Europe but things didn't work out,' a source revealed. 'It's believed that since then Pirates scouts have apparently been monitoring him and now they are willing to give him a chance at the team. They have kept tabs on him and they are impressed by his progress at Highlanders FC in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.' Monnapule Saleng's future at Orlando Pirates seems to have passed the point of no return following nearly six months on the sideline amid salary demands that club refused to meet. The latest news on the winger's future points to a shock move to Kaizer Chiefs, with whom he has reportedly signed a pre-contract with, however, this is yet to be confirmed. Sowetan legend Benedict Vilakazi doesn't approve of this move for the 27-year-old, saying, 'Is he (Saleng) that type of a player that can really play for Chiefs, the way they are playing? I don't think so.' 'An example, look at (Gaston) Sirino [at Kaizer Chiefs], he's no more the Sirino we knew at Sundowns, because of the type of players surrounding him.' 'What's happening to Sirino now, is the same thing that happened to Khama Billiat. The same thing that happened to Keagan Dolly and now it's happening to Sirino, you cannot have Sirino alone and not have other good players surrounding him.' 'Obviously he's going to have a lot on his shoulders. So, he needs support. So even if Saleng goes and plays for Kaizer Chiefs, he's going to struggle like Sirino is struggling, because there's no core at Chiefs that is very strong, that when everyone comes in (they fit in) like puzzles. Those pazzles at Chiefs are scattered.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Orlando Pirates transfer news: Saleng, Mofokeng, Rulani, Mayele
Orlando Pirates will likely be the busiest when the transfer window opens after a disappointing season. Although the Buccaneers did not have a poor season overall, their lack of consistency only saw them win the MTN8. The club have already parted ways with Miguel Timm and Innocent Maela last month. Another player rumoured to leave is winger Monnapula Saleng. The 27-year-old has not kicked a ball in Bucs colours since December. Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Tso Vilakazi said Saleng can help rivals Kaizer Chiefs if he decides to jump ship and joins rivals. 'Is he (Saleng) that type of a player that can really play for Chiefs, the way they are playing? I don't think so. An example, look at (Gaston) Sirino, he's no more the Sirino we knew at (Mamelodi) Sundowns, because of the type of players surrounding him,' he said on Omniaaudioafrica . 'What's happening to Sirino now, is the same thing that happened to Khama Billiat. The same thing that happened to Keagan Dolly and now it's happening to Sirino, you can't have Sirino alone and not have other good players surrounding him. 'Obviously he's going to have a lot on his shoulders. So he needs support. So even if Saleng goes and plays for Chiefs, he's going to struggle like Sirino is struggling, because there's no core at Chiefs that is very strong, that when everyone come in (they fit in) like puzzles. Those puzzles at Chiefs are scattered,' Vilakazi concluded. Another player that could leave Orlando Pirates is Relebohile Mofokeng. The 20-year-old has been the club's best player this past season and has been linked to several European teams in the past. Regarding players coming in, the Buccaneers have inquired about several PSL players, including Thabang Matuludi. Given how their CAF Champions League campaign ended, it's not a surprise that Pirates are linked with Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele. The Congolese star inspired the Egyptians to their first-ever CAF Champions League title. With Jose Riveiro having left the ship last month, the Buccaneers have the task of finding his replacement. The Spaniard spent three seasons at Pirates, winning five trophies with the Soweto giants. Former Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena is one of the favourites for the job. The 38-year-old coach has managed Orlando Pirates before in 2019 but his spell was less memorable. The 27-year-old is reportedly travelling to Naturena in the coming days to get the deal done, which, if achieved, would be AmaKhosi's first deal of the offseason. SOWETO SWAP: Saleng signs pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs?
Monnapule Saleng is believed (per SoccerLaduma) to have signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs following a tumultuous season at Orlando Pirates. Negotiations between the parties have yet to be confirmed, but if this is the case, Orlando Pirates legend doesn't see it working out for the 27-year-old. 'Is he (Saleng) that type of a player that can really play for Chiefs, the way they are playing? I don't think so,' Vilikazi questioned. 'An example, look at (Gaston) Sirino [at Kaizer Chiefs], he's no more the Sirino we knew at Sundowns, because of the type of players surrounding him.' 'What's happening to Sirino now, is the same thing that happened to Khama Billiat. The same thing that happened to Keagan Dolly and now it's happening to Sirino, you cannot have Sirino alone and not have other good players surrounding him,' he added. 'Obviously he's going to have a lot on his shoulders. So, he needs support. So even if Saleng goes and plays for Kaizer Chiefs, he's going to struggle like Sirino is struggling, because there's no core at Chiefs that is very strong, that when everyone comes in (they fit in) like puzzles. Those pazzles at Chiefs are scattered.' Former Kaizer Chiefs manager Gavin Hunt believes Fiston Mayele would transform AmaKhosi into a title challenging side. 'In the PSL, I think he can be a 30-goal striker, I really do. I think he'll make goals on his own, by just movement, strength and power. [If he signs for Kaizer Chiefs] they win a treble,' Hunt mentioned. The CAF Champions League winner has Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Chiefs vying for his services.
