Diyala snatch late win against Duhok in postponed Iraqi Stars League clash
Baghdad ( – Diyala SC secured three valuable points with a dramatic 2-1 away victory over Duhok SC in a postponed Round 24 Iraqi Stars League fixture. The win provides a vital boost for Diyala in their campaign. Diyala opened the scoring just before halftime when Ayman Sfaxi converted a penalty in the 45th minute. Duhok fought back, with Siyaband Ageed finding an equalizer in the 83rd minute, setting up a tense finale. However, it was Diyala who had the final say, as Ali Al-Sajjad Sabah netted a late winner in the 89th minute to clinch the victory for the visitors. The result sees Duhok SC, captained by Yanick Zakri and coached by Amir Azramavan, drop to seventh place in the league standings with 52 points. Diyala, under coach Talal Khalfan and captained by Mohammed Mohsen, remain in 17th position but move to 34 points, a crucial gain for the team.

The decisive match was held at Duhok International Stadium, drawing a massive home crowd cheering on Duhok SC as it delivered a dramatic win in the final minutes of the game. The first goal was scored by Siyaband Ageed in the 65th minute. Qadisiyah SC's Mohammed Sawlah scored an equalizer only a few minutes later. But in the dying moments of the match, Duhok's Marlom Santos sealed the victory with a powerful header in the 92nd minute, sending football fans into a frenzy. The win sparked celebrations across the Kurdistan Region, especially since it marked the first-ever title for Duhok SC in the Gulf Clubs Champions League. Tuesday's victory followed a tightly contested first leg held in Kuwait last week, which ended in a goalless draw, making Tuesday's match even more intense.
