Dealing With Dull Summer Skin? Check These Expert-Approved Fixes That Work Wonders

Last Updated: Harsh summers often wreak havoc on the skin. Dull skin, clogged pores, and sun damage can strip your skin of its radiance and glow. Summer isn't always kind to your skin. While we associate summer with sunshine and brightness, the reality often includes dullness, clogged pores, sun damage, and uneven tone. Between sweat, pollution, and UV exposure, your skin can end up looking tired and dull as it loses its radiance and glow. The good news? A few smart tweaks in your skincare and lifestyle can bring back your natural glow. Dr. Ipshita Johri, Dermatology & Aesthetic Consultant, Laser Specialist and Founder of Skinfinity Derma, shares expert approved fixes that can help you combat dull skin this summer. Double Face Cleansing – Environmental pollutants stress the skin, and on top it all sweat and dust can make the skin dull with congested pores. Dr Ipshita suggests following a good evening skincare routine that consists of an oil-based cleanser that can dissolve sunscreen as well as makeup, and then follow it up with a gel cleanser. This will help keep the pores clean and make skin appear fresh and radiant. Using Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C is your summer skin's best friend. It brightens dullness, fights sun damage, and evens out skin tone. Apply a few drops in the morning before your sunscreen to boost antioxidant protection and get that lit-from-within glow. Never Skip Moisturiser – Avoid heavy creams in the heat, but don't skip moisturisers altogether. Dr Ipshita suggests going for lightweight, gel-based hydrators with hyaluronic acid or glycerin. Over-mattifying products can trick you into thinking your skin is oily, while it's dehydrated and dull. Skin Exfoliation Once A Week – Exfoliation helps remove dead skin buildup that causes dullness. Choose a mild chemical exfoliant (like lactic or mandelic acid) once or twice a week. Skip the harsh scrubs as they can cause microtears and increase sensitivity in summer. Sheet Masks – A cooling sheet mask post-sun exposure not only soothes redness but also instantly hydrates and revives tired-looking skin. Look for ingredients like niacinamide, green tea, and aloe vera to calm and brighten. Sunscreen Should Be Non-Negotiable – Sunburn with sun exposure is the leading cause of skin dullness and premature ageing. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30, even if you're indoors or it's cloudy. Reapply every two to three hours if you're outside. Summer skincare doesn't need a long list of products. Focus your skincare on protection, hydration and feeding your skin with the right ingredients. First Published:
