One of Frank Lloyd Wright's earliest homes — and the only of its kind in Indiana — has listed for sale

A quintessential Frank Lloyd Wright home is on sale for $1.17 million in Indiana. The four-bedroom family home in South Bend is hailed as 'a true architectural treasure' and 'the only true Prairie residence in the state,' in the listing, first reported by The nearly 3,000-square-foot construction, completed in 1906, was an early work for Wright, who remains one of the most respected architects in history. It received his hands-on attention throughout its development, according to agent Steve Bizzaro, who co-listed the property with Gabrielle Iams. 11 The front of the roughly 3,000-square-foot South Bend home. The home, the first Wright property built in Indiana, bears all of the hallmarks of his signature style — bold horizontal lines, overhanging eaves, ample built-ins, an open floor plan and natural materials. 'With 65 original art glass windows, custom built-ins, and period lighting, the home showcases Wright's signature harmony between architecture and artistry,' Bizzaro added. 11 The home has terraces on the front and back. All five bedrooms reside upstairs, including a primary suite with its own fireplace and a wall of art glass windows. Terraces span the front and back of the house. The half-acre lot, located in South Bend's historic West Washington District, has been stewarded for the past several decades by meticulous owners. 11 The primary bedroom enjoys its own fireplace and a wall of art glass windows. The Millers restored each of the home's 65 windows, and stripped and repainted extensive amounts of woodwork. The couple earned a posthumous Wright Spirit Award for their efforts in 2021. The current owners added their own touches, as well, like bathroom and kitchen upgrades, air conditioning and a driveway with an electrical vehicle charger.
