Barataria man killed in Marrero crash

MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — A Barataria man is dead following a crash that happened in Marrero on Friday, May 9. According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop B began investigating the crash, which happened on Leo Kerner Parkway near Parc Des Familles, around 1:30 p.m. Officers with the Slidell Police Department responded to a car crashing into a home in Slidell on May 9. The initial investigation shows that 69-year-old Gordon Cordes was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck south on the parkway when, for reasons that are being investigated, the truck ran off the road, hitting a light pole and multiple trees in the median. Cordes was restrained but suffered serious injuries, dying on scene.
