SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (WKBN) – West Middlesex softball falls to Cambridge Springs, 12-0, in the Class 1A District 10 Championship game at Slippery Rock University Monday afternoon. The win marks Cambridge Springs' 11th district title and third consecutive championship. Blue Devil's Kayla Crawford had 12 strikeouts in the dominant win. SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa (WKBN) – West Middlesex baseball beats Cochranton, 1-0, on a walk-off overthrow error to win the Big Red's fourth consecutive 1A District 10 Championship at Slippery Rock University. Watch above for extended highlights and the walk-off win! West Middlesex's Caleb Koncar won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning as he slid home on a Cochranton error. Big Red's pitcher Kyle Gilson also threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the title victory. SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa (WKBN) – Sharon softball beat Northwestern, 4-1, for the Tigers' second consecutive 3A District 10 title at Slippery Rock University on Monday afternoon. Watch above for extended highlights and interviews with the Tigers. 'I'm just so happy for this journey, especially with Claire, it's been a four-year ride for us,' said Sharon head coach Dave Bodien. 'She's a coach's daughter, so she has to hear everything and see everything and not be able to react to it.' Tiger's Dalaini Bayer led the way on offense as she drove in two runs off one hit in the win. Also, Claire Bodien drove in a run in the victory. 'I was definitely trying not to cry because he always tells me how proud of me he is, and he always works with me after practice, and it shows,' said Bodien. Sharon's Madelyn Vogan threw 11 strikeouts to earn the win. The sophomore gave up only two hits with one run in seven innings pitched. Vogan is currently one strikeout away from 500 career K's. 'Honestly, I take everything personal, so I was just so excited, super hype,' said Vogan. 'I was one strikeout away from 500 strikeouts, but you know I got that next game.' Northwestern's Courtney Eddy drove its only run in the loss. Sharon has punched its ticket to the 2025 PIAA Softball Tournament with an undecided opponent and game date. Crews battle fire at Slippery Rock Campground

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (WKBN) — The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team were called to put out a trailer fire at Slippery Rock Campground on Saturday afternoon. The department shared pictures of the damage on their Facebook page. Fire crews and mutual aid departments acted quickly to keep the fire from spreading to other campers. Area produces 3 runners-up at 98th Roddick High School Invitational

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The area produced three runners-up at the 98th Roddick High School Invitational Saturday at Seth Grove Stadium, site of the PIAA championships. Somerset senior Kamryn Ross, a Slippery Rock recruit, was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.33 seconds. She also was sixth in the 200 at 25.61 and eighth in the 400 with a program-record time of 59.49 seconds. Her mark broke Crystal Hemminger's mark of 1:00.4 from 1985. Advertisement Bedford sophomore Chloe May finished second in the 3200 at 10:53.15. Portage senior Bode Layo was second in the high jump at 6 feet-6 inches to match his school record. Somerset junior Maverick Swank finished fourth in triple jump with a 43-10.75 mark. Penn Cambria junior Blake Lilly was eighth in triple jump at 43-3.5.
