Driver has narrow escape as metal object smashes through windscreen
A driver had a narrow escape when a metal object smashed through his windscreen and sliced his head open as he drove along a motorway. Jake Gray, a 31-year-old welder, was travelling to work in his VW Golf when the piece of metal flew through his front windscreen and out of the rear window. The father of two was left with a severe head wound pouring with blood, but managed to safely pull on to the hard shoulder of the M56 in Cheshire. The mystery object had missed his face by a matter of inches. He called police after the incident on May 29 and was taken to hospital in Warrington, where he was treated for a hairline fracture of the skull. Mr Gray, of Stockton, County Durham, said: 'I was on my way to work listening to Smooth Radio, and then suddenly I blinked and noticed my window was completely smashed. 'It was completely obliterated by this object that had come through, glass shattered in my face and I looked down and I was covered in blood. It has sliced straight through the windscreen and it's gone out the rear window too, which was also smashed, so it went right through the car. 'I somehow managed to pull over safely and called 999. It all happened in the blink of an eye and I was screaming in panic because of the blood. But it could have been a lot worse. I could easily have been decapitated.' Police and highways officers were unable to find the object at the scene of the incident, between junctions 10 for Stretton and 11 for Daresbury. A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said: 'At around 6.15am on May 29, police received reports of a road traffic incident on the M56 between junctions 10 and 11. 'The caller reported an unknown object had hit his vehicle, smashing the windscreen and causing an injury to his head. He was taken to hospital and later discharged. Inquiries are currently ongoing.' A National Highways spokesman said: 'Our thoughts are with Mr Gray after this incident. While it would be inappropriate to comment on the details of this specific incident due the police investigation, National Highways has rigorous motorways inspection, reactive and routine maintenance regimes to tackle defects and remove debris. 'In urgent cases, we can and do close lanes or a carriageway to remove debris including after collisions or in cases where items have fallen from vehicles. The next planned 'sweep' of this section of the M56 is at the end of the month. 'Anyone spotting hazardous debris can report it to us, when they can do so safely, by calling our 24-7 customer contact centre on 0300 123 5000.' Anyone with information is asked call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting crime reference number 25000440305. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. Myleene previously said the key to her slim physique is eating the right kinds of foods. She explained that when she is hungry, she resists the urge to eat junk food and opts for ample healthier options instead. However, Myleene admits that she still allows herself the occasional sweet treat to avoid going 'mental'. Myleene explained that when her old band Hear'Say split up, she developed a 'chaotic eating routine' that saw her become a size 16. She told Women's Health: 'I'm not naturally slim. I'm 5ft 5in and I'm not a model. 'I used to do that whole thing of, "I'm not going to go near chocolate" and all that happens is that three days later it's all I'm craving and I just go mental.' The star also has a stringent workout routine that consists of Pilates, boxing, and core work.

Myleene Klass, 47, puts on a very leggy display in black lace tights as she arrives Smooth Radio
Myleene Klass put on a very leggy display in black lace tights as she arrived at Smooth Radio on Saturday. The radio host, 47, sent pulses racing in her fashion tights as she layered them under a pair of short shorts. She paired the smart black shorts with a cropped white shirt and accessorised with a skinny black tie. Channelling rock prep school, Myleene finished her ensemble with a structured black blazer. Myleene added inches to her petite frame as she slipped into a pair of towering, shiny black platform Valentino heels, which are priced at £465. Her glamourous appearance comes after she was seen earlier in the day cutting a more casual ensemble. She was seen wearing a black bomber jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, a green cap and a pair of green trainers. Myleene was seen walking around London with her sister Jessie, who also stepped out in a relaxed ensemble. Her appearance comes after she transformed into Princess Leia while hosting the Classic FM Live event at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday. She took to her Instagram page with a carousel detailing the 'unforgettable' night through stunning shots. The I'm A Celebrity winner wowed as she dressed up as the beloved Star Wars' character, sporting her trademark side buns. Myleene flashed a glimpse of her toned legs in the silky white gown completed with matching hooded cloak, posing with fellow character Wookie. The star looked just like the fantasy character, Princess Leia Organa, who was famously played by late actress Carrie Fisher. 'A little selection from last night which was unforgettable. I got to be Princess Leia (I'll leave you to guess who the Wookiee was) AND host @classicfm Live at the movies,' she began her caption. 'Hosting duties at the @royalalberthall with the awesome @mrdankwalker and @ plus having my beautiful family there cheering me on was awesome. 'You can listen tonight at 7pm on @classicfm and watch on @skyarts soon.' Reporting to hosting duties, the TV alum sizzled in a figure-hugging sparkling nude gown which boasted a trendy square neckline. Myleene posed for glamorous snaps, elevating her frame in a pair of towering heels and let her long train trail behind her. The radio legend styled her long tresses in voluminous curls and wore a glamorous palette of makeup. The former singer kept her accessorises to a minimum for the night as she wore a chunky gold watch and posed up a storm by the theatre stage. She also shared a snap alongside her two talented co-hosts Dan Walker and Alexander Armstrong.
