Rob Gronkowski and the Indy 500 Snake Pit was a match made in party heaven

If the Indianapolis 500 is the greatest spectacle in racing, then the Snake Pit is the greatest spectacle in partying — and with a reputation like that, you can bet that Rob Gronkowski is going to be at the center of the action. Gronk made his Snake Pit debut on Sunday and served as the Grand Marshal of the infamous infield. "This is a party, and I've seen every party in the world," Gronk said. "This is the biggest party I've seen since Woodstock in 1969!" Gronk started his day on the small stage in the middle of the crowd of over 30,000 fans, and despite being largely outnumbered in enemy territory, he made sure to give them all a friendly reminder of what he did in Indiana during his playing career. "My favorite part of being here at the Indy 500 is that I feel like I'm at home because I absolutely owned the Indianapolis Colts for eight years straight." Gronk said. "While I was on the Patriots, I never lost to them. I owned them on the field: in the blocking game, in the passing game, so I feel like I'm at home." Gronk eventually made his way to the big stage, where he introduced English DJ Sammy Virji: "All you party people, I wanna hear y,all!" Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Natalie Grant will sing the national anthem at the 2025 Indianapolis 500

Nine-time Grammy nominee Natalie Grant will sing the national anthem before the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25, Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced. Grant, a Seattle native who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, is known for her work in Christian and gospel music, having won five GMA Dove Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year. Her most recent album "Seasons," which debuted at the top of the Christian Billboard charts, includes collaborations with Mary Mary, CeCe Winans and more. Her cover of Whitney Houston's "Step By Step" with Dolly Parton made the mainstream adult contemporary chart. 'Natalie's emotional and stirring rendition of the national anthem in front of the grandstand sellout crowd will be an unforgettable moment during pre-race ceremonies for the Indy 500,' said J. Douglas Boles, IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway president, in a May 21 release. 'The national anthem pays honor to the country we love and gets us one step closer to the final, dramatic and electric moments leading up to the start of the Indianapolis 500.' A guide to Indy 500 concerts in 2025: Carb Day, Legends Day and the Snake Pit Outside of her singing career, Grant co-founded Hope for Justice, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking. She's an author who's written 11 books, including the Glimmer Girls tween series about the adventures of twins and their little sister who travel the world with their vocalist mom. Grant is married to Bernie Herms, a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, producer and composer, and the pair's three children inspired the book series. Indianapolis Motor Speedway previously announced that four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski will be the grand marshal of the Snake Pit on May 25. American dance producer Illenium will headline the 2025 Snake Pit. Bret Michaels and the All-American Rejects will co-headline Carb Day on May 23. Patriots' Great Rob Gronkowski Has Intriguing Career Update

Rob Gronkowski has managed to be one of the more entertaining figures in sports media since his retirement from football. The former New England Patriot regularly featured on his friend and former teammate, Julian Edleman's podcast, "Games with Names", before starting a separate show with Edelman aptly named "Dudes on Dudes". Advertisement Some interesting rumors caught fire earlier this year that Gronkowski could be returning to pro football with the Denver Broncos - ones that were swiftly batted down by "Gronk" and his team. But it seems like the 4 x Super Bowl champion will have some new role in the near future, according to NFL insider, Ian Rapoport. Kirby Lee-Imagn Images This is fun: @RobGronkowski is headed to Indianapolis." Rapoport writes, "..to give the command to start the "party" at the Indy 500 on May 25. Gronk will be the grand marshal of the infamous Snake Pit (by Turn 3), while his buddy on @NFLONFOX, @MichaelStrahan, is the honorary pace car driver." Advertisement Although it may be a surprise to see the future Hall of Fame tight end featured in a sport other than football, his role will not be a shock to many. The 4 x All-Pro's designation as a party starter at one of the most raucous sporting events of the year is perhaps one of the better pieces of inter-sport matchmaking produced over the past few years. Gronkowski was well-famed for his off-the-field partying antics during his time in New England - so much so that he even fell asleep on the floor during pre-draft visit with the Patriots. An apt person to get the party going in Indy! Related: Patriots' Move For New #1 Receiver Ripped As One Of Free Agency's 'Worst'
