Bengaluru stampede: Social activist Snehamayi Krishna files complaint against Karnataka CM, Dy CM
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 6 (ANI): Social activist Snehamayi Krishna on Friday has filed a complaint with Cubbon Park police station against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM Shivakumar and Karnataka Cricket Association office bearers in connection with the stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium, in which 11 people died, claiming that the incident took due to government's irresponsibility. 'This is a tragedy caused by the government's irresponsibility. RCB is not a team representing the state. It is a private team bought by liquor vendors. In such a situation, the state government did not need to invite them and felicitate them,' Snehamayi Krisha said. He alleged that the tragedy was caused by the hastily organised program in front of the Vidhana Soudha without any prior preparation regarding law and safety, holding the CM and DCM responsible for the tragedy. 'This case should be taken seriously. CM and DCM are responsible for this. The police have registered a UDR (Unnatural Death Report). This is not the right action. A case should be registered under 106 of the Indian Penal Code,' he said. The state government has also been lambasted by the opposition, with JDs MP HD Kumaraswamy and the BJP pointing fingers at them. Responding to the allegations, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, 'BJP and JDS leaders only speak lies.' Following the death of 11 people in the stampede in Bengaluru on June 4, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), DNA (event management company) officials have been taken into custody and are being taken for medical tests. Karnataka Police filed an FIR against the Karnataka Cricket Board Administrative Committee, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), among others, in the Bengaluru stampede incident. In response, KSCA has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking the quashing of FIRs filed against it. The Karnataka police have suspended multiple IPS officers, including the Bengaluru city police Commissioner, B Dayananda. Senior IPS officer Seemant Kumar Singh took charge as the city police commissioner earlier today. (ANI)

Activist files complaint against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, deputy CM DK Shivakumar over Chinnaswamy stampede
Following a tragic stampede at Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory celebration that resulted in 11 deaths and over 75 injuries, social activist Snehamayi Krishna has filed a police complaint. NEW DELHI: Days after the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 and injured over 75 during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebration, social activist Snehamayi Krishna has filed a police complaint seeking legal action against chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy CM DK Shivakumar and officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for negligence. In her complaint lodged at Cubbon Park Police Station, Krishna invoked Section 106 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to culpability in situations where death is caused by omission to prevent harm when the accused was duty-bound to do so. The complaint states that despite being in positions of authority, the named leaders and organisers failed to ensure basic safety arrangements, leading to the fatal stampede. What was intended as a city-wide celebration of RCB's maiden IPL title turned into one of Bengaluru's darkest days. The felicitation, announced only hours in advance on Wednesday, was marred by poor planning, unclear communication, and a complete breakdown of crowd control — culminating in a stampede at Gate No. 7 of the stadium. The day started with RCB's social media handle announcing a parade from Vidhana Soudha to the stadium, but no details on timing, route, or entry rules were shared. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No dark spots, 10 years younger! Thousands of fans began gathering at both locations, leading to confusion. By 4.30pm, as the crowd surged and metro stations near the venues were shut due to pressure, panic began to spread. At 4.51pm, a deadly crush occurred outside Gate No. 7 after rumours circulated about passes being distributed there. Police said more than 3 lakh people had gathered — nearly 10 times the stadium's capacity. Among the 11 people who lost their lives were mostly youth, including teenagers and a 13-year-old girl. Another 75 were injured, 33 of whom were hospitalised. Despite deploying 1,500 personnel, police were overwhelmed. A senior officer admitted, 'There was no clarity from organisers. Even we didn't know what was happening where.'

MUDA case: Lokayukta seeks time
Bengaluru: The Special Court for MLAs and MPs on Wednesday adjourned the hearing on the petition challenging the closure report against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case to May 29. The adjournment followed a request by the Karnataka Lokayukta seeking more time to submit the final report in the on April 15, the Special Court had stated that a decision on the closure report against CM Siddaramaiah would be taken only after the completion of the Lokayukta probe. Meanwhile, petitioner Snehamayi Krishna submitted a plea before the court under Section 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), alleging that the investigators were deliberately delaying the submission of the final report in the MUDA case. 'I suspect that the evidence may be tampered with or destroyed. Therefore, I request the court to consider the submitted report as final, take cognisance of the objections and documents provided by me, allow me to present my arguments, and issue appropriate orders,' he stated. He further submitted in his petition that there was little likelihood of the Lokayukta police filing a report against accused number one, CM Siddaramaiah, and others who have already been given a clean chit in the interim report. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also registered its objection to the closure report in the MUDA case involving CM Siddaramaiah, his wife and others. The court earlier stated that the Lokayukta has not completed the probe. The court further directed the Lokayukta to submit its final report after completing the investigation on May 7. 'On one hand, the Lokayukta has filed a closure report, while on the other hand, it states that the probe has to be continued. Hence, let the investigation be completed,' the court had said. 'It is appropriate to consider the objection plea once the investigation is completed,' the court stated. The court further ruled that the ED can file an objection plea in the case challenging the Lokayukta investigation. The counsel for the Lokayukta had maintained that the ED cannot be an aggrieved party in the case.
