Cadbury launches new chocolate bar - and it looks very similar to popular treat that 'broke hearts' when it was axed
Cadbury is launching a chocolate bar in the UK - which is bound to delight sweet toothed fans. The new Twirl White Dipped will be available across the UK from June 2, but shoppers will have to be quick to get their hands on the treat, as it is limited edition. Based on the popular Twirl, the new variant takes the original flaky finger, but instead of coating it in milk chocolate, it is coated in white chocolate. While retailers are able to price the bar as they like, the recommended retail price for the snack is 99p. The launch follows a similar bar - the Snow Flake - which was discontinued in 2008. In June 2018, a decade after the Snowflake disappeared from shelves, a petition calling for its return racked up 4,000 signatures. It originally hit the shelves back in August 2000 thanks to a rather notorious introduction at Anthea Turner's wedding to Grant Bovey where the couple were pictured chomping on the chocolate during their reception. Despite the photo appearing in OK! along with a free bar of the chocolate, all three parties denied it was a sponsorship deal. Three years later the name was changed to Flake Snow and in 2008 it was taken off the shelves for good. Then 10 years later , John Malogony from London, launched his petition to bring it back, writing: 'In 2008 Cadbury broke hearts by discontinuing the Snow Flake (or Flake Snow). The bizarre decision still baffles people to this day and it needs to be rectified.' Fellow sweet-toothed fans signed the petition, with one writing: 'One of my favorite childhood snacks. Ready to see this back in stores!' Another wrote: 'No more discontinued for all eternity.' Fans of the Snowflake may be pleased to see the new Twirl White Dipper. While it is slightly different to its predecessor, it still has the elements of white chocolate with the classic texture of the Flake. The launch of the new Cadbury Twirl White Dipped follows a similar treat - the Snow Flake - being discontinued in 2008, prompting a petition (pictured) to be launched in 2018, calling for its return The Twirl White Dipped could be popular among fans of the Snow Flake (later renamed the Flake Snow) which was discontinued in 2008 Talking about the launch, Katya Savelieva, brand manager for Twirl at Mondelez International, claimed people would not want to miss out on the treat. She said: 'With smooth white chocolate surrounding our iconic milk chocolate swirls, the new Twirl White Dipped is an indulgence you won't want to miss – grab it as soon as you can and experience Twirl like never before!' Cadbury also shared a Facebook post about the news - which prompted some comparisons with its discontinued predecessor. In the Facebook post, Cadbury wrote: 'OK but we've really outdone ourselves with this one. Introducing Twirl White Dipped, keep your eyes peeled for when you can get your hands on it.' The response was somewhat mixed, with many excited about the upcoming option, but others still wishing the Snow Flake would return. Some chocolate fans were excited about the Twirl White Dipped - but others wished Cadbury would re-release the Snow Flake One chocolate fan wrote: 'It's the closet thing I'm gonna get to a snowflake!!…' A further Facebook user simply wrote: 'Snowflake!' However, some still lamented the loss of the discontinued bar, with one writing: 'If it was the other way around it would of been snowflake.'

Cadbury unveils new chocolate bar perfect for fans of discontinued 00s favourite
Christmas just came early for Cadbury fans! The confectionery giant has announced its going to be launching a brand new chocolate bar. Coming to a supermarket or corner shop near you very soon, the sweet treat is a twist on what some social media users have hailed the brand's 'best' chocolate bar – the Twirl. Known as the Cadbury Twirl White Dipped, the new chocolate takes the iconic Twirl bar that everyone knows and loves and elevates it by dipping the swirled chocolate in a white chocolate coating. But, naturally, there is a catch… The dipped Twirls are limited-edition and will only be available in limited quantities, so you'll want to try one while you can. Shoppers will be able to find them in grocery stores from June 2 and they'll be priced at 99p – although retailers are free to set their own prices. Commenting on the new launch, Katya Savelieva, brand manager for Twirl at Mondelez International, said: 'With smooth white chocolate surrounding our iconic milk chocolate swirls, the new Twirl White Dipped is an indulgence you won't want to miss – grab it as soon as you can and experience Twirl like never before!' The new treat will likely be perfect for those who have been missing a discontinued Cadbury product from the 00s – the Snow Flake (also known as Flake Snow). For those who remember the nostalgic treat, it was essentially the reverse of the Dipped Twirl, as it had a white chocolate flakey centre and was covered in a milk chocolate coating. More Trending First launched in 2000, the Snow Flake was sold for eight years before tragically being discontinued in 2008. Since then, thousands of chocolate lovers have petitioned for its return and while it's yet to come back, this new bar might help fill the void it left behind. View More » This isn't the only twist on a Twirl the brand has sold over the years, as well as the standard milk chocolate version, there's also been a mint chocolate one, a chocolate orange Twirl and places like B&M have sold Caramilk and coffee-flavoured Twirls imported from Australia.
