A Family Of Seagulls Landed On The Vatican Roof During The Conclave, And They Completely Stole The Spotlight
As you probably already heard, today marks the first day of the conclave — the sacred, centuries-old tradition where Catholic cardinals gather in total secrecy to elect a new pope. Now, as per the tradition, the cardinals have entered the Sistine Chapel, sworn to silence, and cut themselves off from the outside world until a decision is made. It also all kicks off with prayers, ancient rituals, and a solemn oath of secrecy… as the world waits for the white smoke signifying that a new pope has been selected.
However, today ended with black smoke (meaning no new pope has been elected), and not much else happening...
Except for the arrival of some seagulls who decided they wanted a front-row seat to the conclave and perched themselves on the roof of the Sistine Chapel, next to the chimney.
Now, with not much else happening, these birds (or "pigeons of the sea" as I like to call them) have taken social media by ~storm~. So, I decided to round up some of the best Twitter (X) reactions to their appearance:

I'm watching Sky News waiting for the smoke, and my cats decided that the seagull on the Sistine Chapel's roof is the single most exciting thing ever 🤣 #Conclave

Hopefully, the seagulls make their return to the Sistine Chapel tomorrow, because clearly the internet NEEDS them.
