Around 10 million worshipers perform Eid Al-Adha prayer at over 1,900 Youth Centers Across Egypt
Egyptians perform Eid Adha prayer in youth centers on June 6, 2025- press photo CAIRO – June 7, 2025: Nearly 10 million Egyptians performed the Eid Al-Adha prayer on Friday morning at 1,912 youth centers across the country, according to a statement released Saturday by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Ministry noted that youth centers witnessed a massive turnout during the first day of the holiday, with approximately 13 million citizens visiting these centers. In addition to those attending the Eid prayer, around three million participated in the 'Eid is Ahla' (Eid is More Joyful) initiative, organized by the Ministry's Central Administration for Youth Centers in cooperation with regional directorates. Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, highlighted that the overwhelming public presence underscores citizens' trust in the vital societal role played by youth centers. He affirmed the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance the infrastructure and services of these centers to meet the needs of all age groups. 'Youth centers have become an integral part of Egyptian life. They are no longer limited to sports activities—they now serve as inclusive spaces for worship, entertainment, and cultural and social engagement,' Minister Sobhi said. He added, 'We are committed to transforming youth centers into creative, community-driven hubs that offer diverse services in cooperation with other ministries and institutions. This contributes to fostering a sense of national belonging and aligns with the state's strategy for citizen development.'

Musa Khudair Wins Two Medals at World Weightlifting Championships
Baghdad-INA Iraqi weightlifter Musa Khudair Sobhi excelled in the World Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships, hosted by the Peruvian capital, Lima, winning two medals alongside some of the world's most prominent weightlifters. Sobhi won the silver medal in the snatch and the bronze medal in the 89 kg clean and jerk, lifting 145 kg in the clean and jerk and 173 kg in the snatch, amidst the participation of some of the world's most prominent weightlifters. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), head of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation, Mohammed Kazim Muzail, said, "Winning the silver and bronze medals by weightlifter Musa Khudair in the world championship, which was characterized by intense competition, represents an honorable addition to Iraqi sports and embodies the development of weightlifting on the international stage." He added, "This achievement will be a great incentive for other Iraqi weightlifters to continue to shine and raise the Iraqi flag in international forums, with the ongoing support of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation and the Iraqi National Olympic Committee."

Mohamed Al-Sayed clinched the epee bronze in the Fencing Grand Prix in Italy while Abdel-Rahman Tolba won the foil bronze. The 21-year-old Al-Sayed, the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist, had an exceptional run at the World Cup. He started the day by beating Ruben Derksen (Netherlands) 15-11 in round 64. In the round of 16, the Egyptian blanked Badim Sharlamov (Kazakhstan) 15-0 before edging out South Korean Taeyeang An in the round of 16, 9-8. In the quarter-finals Al-Sayed crushed Italian Gianpaolo Buzzacchino 15-6 to qualify for the semi-final and guarantee a medal. In the semi-final, though, Al-Sayed lost to the Hungarian Tibor Andrasfi and had to settle for the bronze medal. On the other hand, Tolba, 17, took home the bronze medal after defeating Cheung Ka Long of Hong Kong, the world's top-ranked player and the gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, 15-12, in addition to defeating Buzzacchino. Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi congratulated both players for their bronze medals at the championship held from 7 to 9 February. Sobhi praised both, describing them as 'great' during the tournament, stressing that their achievements reflected 'the great development witnessed by the Egyptian Fencing Federation on the international level'. He said the continuous accomplishments of Egyptian fencers had taken Egypt to the highest levels, 'confirming the ability of Egyptian athletes to compete strongly in major sporting events,' and stressing that the ministry 'continues to provide all aspects of support to distinguished players to achieve more and raise the flag of Egypt in various tournaments'. Egypt, Netherlands discuss bilateral cooperation, national strategy for youth
Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi has discussed with an official delegation from the Netherlands means to cement cooperation between the two countries and Egypt's national strategy for youth. They also discussed efforts to support education, create jobs for youth and increase youth participation in social and economic development. Minister Sobhi highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two sides, pointing out that the Egyptian state gives special importance to youth empowerment to support their role in building the future through integrated national strategies and scientific, economic and innovative potentials. He said his ministry seeks to pursue cooperation with various countries to exchange expertise and develop programs serving youth, expressing hope for more partnerships and cooperation with the Netherlands to develop sports sector. For his part, Dutch Ambassador for Youth, Education and Work, Jurriaan Middelhoff hailed relations binding the two countries, saying cooperation in the fields of sports, education in a main pillar for promoting sustainable development and youth empowerment. He said the two sides discussed many joint projects being carried out to expand such cooperation. The meeting was attended by Dutch ambassador in Cairo Peter Mollema.
