The tensions between the two nuclear-powered countries reached an all-time high after the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir that led to the death of 26 people at a tourist destination. One of the highlights of Trump's recent post was that the American leader offered help to resolve the 'thousand-year-long issue'. 'I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have led to the death and destruction of so many, and so much,' Trump wrote in the post. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!' he added. Trump was the first one to announce that India and Pakistan had agreed to a 'full and immediate ceasefire.' However, the initial statements from both India and Pakistan did not mention the US's involvement in the negotiations between the two nations. A fragile truce The sudden announcement of the ceasefire followed four days of of the war between the two regional rivals. While both sides were breathing a sigh of relief following the ceasefire announcement, the northwestern areas of Kashmir to Surat endured another night of explosion sounds and drone sightings. In light of this, local authorities in J&K and Punjab put their respective regions under high alert but urged the locals not to panic. In the middle of the night, the Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conducted a press conference in which he condemned what he called 'a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today'. We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility," he said. In response to India's accusations, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry issued a statement insisting that its forces were 'handling the situation with responsibility and restraint' and reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire. Since the morning things have been calm at the border but tension between the two nations is still in the air.
