38 Maoists from Chhattisgarh surrender in Kothagudem
Hyderabad: A day after three Greyhounds commandos were killed in a Maoist ambush in Mulugu district, 38 Maoists surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem district superintendent of police B Rohit Raju on Friday.

All the surrendered Maoists belong to Chhattisgarh. As part of '
,' a rehabilitation programme jointly implemented by the Kothagudem police and CRPF battalions for the welfare of tribals and surrendered Maoists, 265 Maoists have surrendered in the district this the 38 surrendered Maoists, Sodi Joga, 25, is a member of the South Bastar divisional committee, and Nupa Pojja, 21, is a member of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army's first battalion.
The rest are members of the Revolutionary People's Committee from Jarapalli and Errapalli areas in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
"The Maoist party has been losing support among tribal communities due to its outdated ideology and attempts to obstruct development in the Agency area. They terrorised tribals by placing landmines. The Maoists cited the Telangana govt's attractive rehabilitation package and immediate reward system as key factors for their decision to surrender," the SP said, while appealing to Maoists to lay down their arms and join the mainstream.
