C3 Corvette Crash Likely Was Avoidable

Read the full story on The Auto Wire It's a sad day when a C3 Corvette crashes, causing fairly significant damage as well as injuring people. That's why we stopped to read up on this recent incident in a Philadelphia suburb called Solebury Township. Then we ran across claims about what led up to the to Solebury Township Police, the C3 Corvette crashed into another vehicle, from what we can see the crossover shown in the background of photos of the aftermath. The impact was serious enough to injure one of the drivers as well as passengers in both vehicles. Plus, firefighters had to extricate at least some of the victims. That could explain why the 'Vette is shown with some body panels removed, not ripped off. Although, there are some panels obviously skinned off in in part from the collision. While it's sad some people might be dealing with long-term injuries, we also hate to see a classic American sports car get damaged like this. The crash could've been much worse, but from what some people are saying, it also could've been entirely avoided. On the police department's Facebook post about the crash, one man claims the crash unfolded before his very eyes. He says the C3 Corvette was speeding as it entered a curve in the road, the back end breaking free so the sports car spun out. The man claims the 'Vette entered the oncoming lanes of traffic, hitting the crossover. It all probably happened so fast the other driver had little to no time to react. What's more, this man says the C3 Corvette was speeding along with two other 'suped up (sic) cars.' In other words, the driver was perhaps showing off for his friends, who were also speeding and maybe driving recklessly. We know for enthusiasts it can be fun to go on a local run in your hobby cars. However, pushing each other to do increasingly dangerous, illegal, and stupid things on public roads can end horribly. Luckily, nobody was killed in this crash but we don't know how serious the injuries are. If you really want to show off like this, go do hot laps on a track.
