UAE sends 5,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Chad
As part of its continued efforts to provide humanitarian relief support to Sudanese refugees in the Republic of Chad during the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE has distributed 5,000 food baskets to support Iftar programmes in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena.
The food baskets included 3,500 baskets for Sudanese refugees in the Tregen and Bregen camps in the Ouaddai region in eastern Chad, benefiting approximately 20,000 people.
Additionally, 1,500 baskets and 33 tonnes of dates were distributed in N'Djamena and its suburbs, benefiting 30,000 people.
The distribution was carried out by the UAE Aid Coordination Office inin coordination with the Chadian Ministry of Social Action, Solidarity and .Humanitarian Affairs.
Rashid Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Chad, stated, "The UAE is striving to provide the necessary humanitarian support to Sudanese refugees in neighbouring countries and to support host communities, enhancing their ability to respond and contributing to social and economic stability. This is achieved through the provision of basic necessities, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, which is an opportunity to continue the approach of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was keen to provide support and extend a helping hand to meet the needs of needy families in friendly countries."
