RJY aims to become the cleanest city in the State

Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ketan Garg said that efforts are underway to transform Rajamahendravaram into the cleanest city in the state. Speaking at the 'Beat the Heat' event under the 'Swachh Andhra–Swarnandhra' initiative at VAMBAY Housing Complex in Aava area of 16th Ward on Saturday, he urged citizens to consider the responsibility of planting and nurturing trees as their own. The event was attended by Joint collector S Chinna Rammudu, MLC Somu Veerraju, and others. Commissioner Garg said that the Swachh Andhra–Swarnandhra programmes are being effectively implemented across the city. He stated that the primary objective of the 'Beat the Heat' campaign is to create awareness among the public about precautionary measures to protect themselves from the scorching summer heat. Garg further informed that 40 water kiosks have been set up across the city, and nets have been installed at various traffic signals to protect commuters from direct sunlight. Additionally, a total of 6,560 rainwater harvesting structures have been established, covering the city and 10 surrounding panchayats. The Commissioner announced that Rs 25 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of a compound wall around the Urban Health Centre's vacant land, and a bio-fencing with plants will be established soon. He also encouraged every citizen to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its growth. Joint collector S Chinna Rammudu advised people to take necessary precautions to protect their health during the rising temperatures, especially children and the elderly. He recommended staying indoors unless necessary and consuming plenty of fluids, including ORS. He also suggested arranging water bowls for animals and birds. MLC Somu Veerraju lauded the city's improved performance in the Swachh Andhra– Swarnandhra grading and called for a ban on plastic usage to protect the environment. Additional Commissioner PV Ramalingeswar, Secretary G Shailajavalli, Superintending Engineer MCH Koteshwar Rao, and MHO Vinuthna also participated in the event.

CPI slams Somu Veerraju over his remarks against Narayana

Vijayawada: Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K Ramakrishna condemned the remarks made by BJP leader and MLC Somu Veerraju against CPI national secretary and senior national leader K Narayana. In a press release on Sunday, the CPI leader said Somu Veerraju had made objectionable comments on Narayana and suggested him to go to Pakistan. He said Narayana had expressed his view on Indo-Pakistan war and stressed the need for ending terrorism. Ramakrishna said BJP leader Somu Veerraju criticised Narayana for suggesting peace and opposing war with Pakistan. 'CPI leader Narayana suggested that the two countries should resolve the dispute through dialogue. BJP leader Somu Veerraju reacted sharply and suggested Narayana to go to Pakistan with his belongings if he has love and affection for Pakistan.' CPI leader Ramakrishna said India had agreed for the ceasefire due to proposal of the US. He questioned now Somu Veerraju would go to the United States as US president Trump proposed the ceasefire to end the war. He questioned had India agreed for the ceasefire or not on the proposal of the Trump. He questioned is it true that India had agreed to the suggestion of the US and left discretion of the people of India and leaving the sovereignty of the nation and agreed for the ceasefire. The CPI leader demanded Somu Veerraju to withdraw his remarks on Narayana and suggested the BJP leader to quit the MLC post and go to USA. Ramakrishna said India and Pakistan should resolve the bilateral issues and demanded that PM should explain the people of India on the mediation of the USA on ceasefire.

BJP renders Hanuman Chalisa to support Army in Andhra

TIRUPATI: BJP leaders, including Tirupati district president Smanchi Srinivas, MLC Somu Veerraju, and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board member Bhanu Prakash Reddy, participated in a Hanuman Chalisa recitation at the Anjaneya temple in the city on Saturday to express solidarity with the Indian Army. Speaking to the media, the leaders said they prayed for the well-being of the armed forces and condemned the unprovoked attacks by the Pakistan Army on border states. They emphasised the need for unity and divine blessings to strengthen the country's defence forces.
