Coimbatore girl secures AIR 40 in NEET but name missing from official rank list
N Abishya COIMBATORE: A Coimbatore girl has secured All India Rank (AIR) 40 in NEET 2025 with 680 marks, but her name was not reflected on the official rank list released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to the NEET 2025 results declared by NTA on Saturday, six students from Tamil Nadu secured ranks within the top 100 at the national level. Among them was Soorya Narayanan S from Tirunelveli, who was declared the state topper with 665 out of 720 marks and secured AIR 27. However, N Abishya of Selvapuram in Coimbatore scored 680 marks -- 15 marks more than the declared state topper -- and secured AIR 40. Despite her higher score, her name was not featured on the top 100 rank list published by the agency. Her father, Nelson, said that they had sent an email complaint to the NTA seeking clarification regarding the discrepancy. 'This was her third attempt. She scored 570 marks last year,' he added. NEET toppers appeared for JEE to excel in physics & chemistry
Chennai: In a new trend, medical aspirants are appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to excel in physics and chemistry questions in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). All six students from Tamil Nadu who featured among the top 100 rankers in NEET this year appeared for the JEE as well. Three of them did so well that they secured seats in top IITs, including IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur and IIT Dharwad. Tamil Nadu topper Soorya Narayanan S, who achieved the all-India 27th rank in NEET, had secured the all-India rank of 388 in the JEE (Advanced) exam this year. "My son got a seat in electrical engineering at IIT Madras in the first round. However, he wanted to pursue medicine. He is interested in studying either at JIPMER Puducherry or AIIMS New Delhi," said M Sankara Subramanian, Soorya Narayanan's father, who works as a Chief Ticket Inspector in railways. S Pugazhendi, who secured an all-India rank of 61 in the NEET exam, is undecided about whether to join AIIMS New Delhi or IIT Kanpur. He secured a seat in electrical engineering. Rakesh A J, another top ranker who secured an all-India 78th rank in the NEET exam, is planning to join AIIMS New Delhi or JIPMER in Puducherry. "I got a computer science engineering seat at IIT Dharwad. But, I am interested in medicine," he said. Nagaraj, the father of Abhineet, who achieved an all-India 50th rank in NEET, said, "Those who prepare for JEE will be well-versed with physics and chemistry questions. Those questions are more tricky. Those students tend to do well in NEET." His son also scored 99.54 in the JEE (Main) exam. This year, those who practised for JEE got higher scores in NEET as the physics and chemistry questions were lengthy and difficult. Some medical aspirants attempted only the physics and chemistry questions in the JEE exam. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
