Immersive ocean experience this weekend at Bishop Museum

HONOLULU (KHON2) — This weekend we can celebrate our love of the ocean and decompress, where the melodies of whales and dolphins will serenade your senses, creating a symphony of harmony and guide you into a meditative ocean odyssey at Sounds of the Ocean at Bishop Museum's J. Watumull Planetarium.'An immersive experience to connect with marine life, supporting ocean conservation and mental health,' said Joshua Sam Miller, founder and creative director of Sounds of the Ocean. He added that his passion for the ocean comes from a lifelong love for scuba diving, kitesurfing, and being around, on, or in the water. The event is giving a portion of proceeds to support the Papahanaumokuakea Marine Debris Project. Could eyes in the sky monitor Hawaii's beasts in the ocean? 'We are supporting PMDP with 10% of our ticket sales from our events here in Oahu, supporting their efforts to clean up this important marine sanctuary,' Miller said. Miller credits Bishop Museum's cultural significance in Hawaii and recent renovations with bringing the event to life for local residents. 'The Bishop Museum provides the perfect home for our film screenings with the use of their historic facility and planetarium technology, to inspire a deeper connection to the natural work both on our planet and beyond.' The goal is to help build a lasting bond between people and the ocean. Check out more news from around Hawaii 'These days, it is important to prioritize our mental health, to slow down and take a moment to connect with ourselves, our loved ones, and the magic of the environment. We hope everyone can join us this weekend and participate in our first series of events here on Oahu!' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
