Isuzu Malaysia names Tomoyuki Yamaguchi as new CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Isuzu Malaysia has announced the appointment of Tomoyuki Yamaguchi as its new chief executive officer effective April 24. Yamaguchi succeeded Shunsuke Okazoe, who has returned to Japan to assume the role of vice president of the Japan sales division at Isuzu Motors Ltd. Bringing nearly three decades of experience in the automotive industry, Isuzu Malaysia said Yamaguchi offers a strong international background and a proven track record in driving business growth across diverse markets. Yamaguchi acknowledged the maturity of Isuzu Malaysia's business operations and the solid foothold the brand has established over two decades of incorporation. "Isuzu Malaysia remains a model of excellence from a global perspective. The operations here have built a strong base of loyal customers who recognise the strengths and capabilities of Isuzu vehicles," he said. "We must continuously strive to make every customer experience a positive one. I look forward to working closely with the team and our dealers to elevate customer satisfaction to the next level," he added. A graduate of Toyo University, Yamaguchi began his career with Isuzu in 1997, initially serving in the international operations department where he managed key markets such as Russia, Ukraine and various South-West Asian countries. Prior to his Malaysian appointment, he was seconded to Isuzu Motors South Africa, where he played a pivotal role in revitalising the company's commercial vehicle business. As part of his strategic focus, Yamaguchi plans to expand the range of in-house services offered by dealerships to ensure customers receive quality-assured support. He also aims to improve warehousing processes, prioritising faster parts availability to meet the growing number of Isuzu vehicles on Malaysian roads.
