Multiple Sioux Gateway Airport improvement projects approved
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City City Council approved multiple projects on Monday to continue making improvements to the Sioux Gateway Airport.
Council members approved plans for the replacement of the Gate 2 Passenger Boarding Bridge.
According to city documents, the project also includes building a new passenger boarding bridge (PBB) foundation, installing a new apron-drive PBB, and a new fixed section.
The replacement project is also set to have associated electrical and HVAC upgrades to support the new infrastructure for the bridge.
New fee structure approved for Sioux City Marina
Officials said the funds for the project will be covered by using an Federal Aviation Administration grant with a 95% to 5% cost share. The estimated cost of the project is $1.4 council also approved plans for the South Apron Reconstruction Phase 1 Project. This will include the reconstruction of a part of the South General Aviation Apron.
City documents indicate that this phase will have around 1,360 square yards of composite pavement removed and 1,040 square yards of 18-inch subgrade preparation and treatment.
Then, the area will be resurfaced with 1,0404 square yard of concrete pavement and about 20 tons of asphalt.
The reconstruction project is set to cost $555,509. Both projects are scheduled to have biddings on May 8.
