Pedestrian shot in South Baltimore road rage incident
A pedestrian was shot in the wrist in South Baltimore Monday evening in what police are calling a road rage incident. Baltimore Police responded to the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane around 7 p.m. to investigate a discharged firearm. Shortly after, they received a report of a walk-in shooting victim seeking treatment, according to a news release Monday. At the hospital, officers found an 18-year-old man being treated for a gunshot wound to the wrist. He said he was walking along the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane when he was shot. The victim is in stable condition. A preliminary investigation by Southern District officers found that two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident in which an unidentified person was shooting out of one of the cars' passenger side windows. Both vehicles crashed at the 2700 block of Wegworth Lane, where the driver and passenger of one vehicle fled from the scene on foot. The driver of the other vehicle, who remained at the scene, did not sustain any injuries, police said. Detectives believe the gunshot victim was struck by one of the rounds fired from the vehicle as he was walking, and do not believe he was involved in the incident, police said in the news release.
