Florida High schooler's backflip fail during graduation ceremony goes viral after he accidentally kicks classmate: Watch

A South Florida high schooler does a backflip and hits the girl standing behind him while accepting his diploma. The incident reportedly happened over the weekend at South Plantation High School's graduation ceremony, per an Instagram-based news handle, its_onsite. The grad accidentally hitting the girl, caught on video, quickly made its way around social media. Notably, the video shows that as graduates lined up to receive their diplomas, one did a backflip on stage. But things didn't go exactly as planned. Mid-flip, his foot connected with the girl standing behind him, knocking her off balance. ALSO READ| 'He did apologize but he did warn her before the name was called he was going to do a flip. Excitement happened too quickly ... they had to sit next to each other after this,' wrote TikTok user @rebel_chaos, who shared the clip. its_onsite's post added, 'A South Plantation High School grad was feeling himself a little too much and accidentally kicked the girl behind him while doing a backflip during the ceremony.' 'According to #Rebel_Chaos, he did warn her he was gonna flip, but the excitement got the best of him. They still had to sit next to each other afterward.' Famed X-based journalist, Collin Rugg, also posted the video on X, captioning, 'High schooler does a backflip and accidentally kicks the girl behind him while accepting his diploma. Lmao.' Hilariously, the Florida grad's blunder reminded me of a viral 2018 video of a college student's Spring Break backflipping stunt also going sideways. The viral clip from Fort Lauderdale Beach showed Joe Manuel, a student from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was showing off his backflip skills in front of a group of girls. After a series of successful flips, he crashed into a group of girls, knocking one to the ground. The young, annoyed woman jumps up and kicks and slaps Joe on the back a few times.

‘Big up to Kendall girls': Diplo gives a shout-out to all his suburban Miami fans

Diplo has a type. The world class DJ recently appeared on the 'TSL Time Podcast' discussing a wide range of topics, including his fans. The electronica king's favorite? 'Kendall girls are special, man,' said Diplo, real name Thomas Wesley Pentz. 'You can tell right away because of the accent. It's crazy.' 'I can't pick up on it that much,' said host Richie Lovelace, which prompted Diplo to launch into a perfect impression: 'Literally, pero,' Diplo says, imitating the cadence so unique to the 305. 'Me and my girlfriend we come to Club E11EVEN and saw you DJ.' Lovelace immediately recognized the sing song way of speaking, not to mention adorable use of Spanglish. 'You don't know when you're in it,' said Diplo, 'When you leave the city you hear it more and you're like, damn, it's like a real accent!' The South Plantation High School alum is not only appreciative of the women of Miami's exburbs, he actually credits the nightlife queens with launching his career. 'Big up to Kendall girls,' said the UCF dropout. 'If it wasn't for them I wouldn't even make music ... I wouldn't even be here.' The 'TSL Time' Instagram post featuring the clip received almost 4,000 likes, including one, fittingly, from E11EVEN. This is hardly the first time Diplo's shown the love for the unincorporated area about 15 miles southwest of downtown Miami. In a TikTok interview with 'Best Of' influencer Isaac Hindin-Miller in 2023, the mega producer was asked what his favorite neighborhood in town was. The answer? You guessed it. 'Every girl that comes to my parties is from Kendall,' the Grammy winner revealed. 'It's true!'

South Florida teen born deaf excels in school thanks to determination, modern science

A South Florida high school student who was born deaf defies the odds and now ranks at the top of his class. With the help of modern medicine, Edmund Polinski is proving that obstacles are no match for determination. Edmund, a freshman at South Plantation High School, received a cochlear implant when he was 18 months old. It has helped him lead a normal life and enjoy what most teenagers do. "Love to watch shows, play video games, anything technology-based," he said. In school, Polinski is making an impact. Not only is he in the top 15% of his class, he was also recently awarded the President's Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. It's a testament to how far he's come. Dr .Ivette Cejas was Polinski's cochlear implant surgeon. She said detecting his hearing loss early helped give him a better life. "It's not just early identification of hearing loss, it's also early implantation, and with that, individuals are able to have the best outcomes across the board," Cejas said. A recent study by Cejas, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that children who get cochlear implants early have better academic performance, as well as better reading, writing and language skills, compared to children at or above the typical age and gender expectations. With the implant, speech therapy and a transliterator, Polinski was able to attend regular classes in elementary school. He said his favorite class now is engineering, "because you make all these cool little contraptions, like a bridge."
