All 5 passengers aboard Oregon-bound plane crash from St. George released from hospital

ST. GEORGE, Utah () — All five who were aboard the Oregon-bound plane from St. George have been released from the hospital, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The plane had crash-landed on Monday into a nearby body of water after skidding off the runway of the North Bend Southwest Oregon Regional Airport. Emergency crews responded to the scene after an iPhone belonging to someone on board sent a crash alert. Hospital staff reported that everyone on board had suffered minor injuries but were alert, oriented, and stable. Three of the passengers had been released from the hospital the same day, while one was kept overnight for observation. Another person on the plane reportedly had to be transferred to another facility to receive specialized care. The North Bend Oregon Regional Airport confirmed, however, that everyone has been released. Provo Airport set to break ground on expansion, adding six new gates It is still currently unclear what caused the plane to skid off the runway. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration were on site Tuesday to conduct a preliminary investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board will continue its own investigation to determine the cause. The aircraft, which officials said was a 2019 Honda HA-420 jet, was removed from the water on Monday shortly after the crash. Until the investigation is complete, the aircraft will remain stored at the airport, officials said. The plane will remain stored at the airport as the NTSB investigation continues. 5 people injured after plane crashes into body of water at Oregon airport

5 people injured after plane crashes into body of water at Oregon airport Five people were hospitalized after a small plane skidded off a runway into a body of water at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend on Monday. An airport spokesperson, Stephanie Kilmer, told the Eugene Register-Guard that a small private aircraft skidded off Runway 23 at 6:12 a.m. The plane, a 2019 Honda HA-240 that departed from Utah, ended up approximately five feet into Coos Bay. The aircraft was located about 100 feet off the east end of the runway and was secured by emergency response teams. "We had aircraft rescue and firefighters on scene. There was actually a witness that witnessed the plane going off the end of the runway, so a call was made to emergency responders," Kilmer told local news station KEZI. "This is where training and where our constant requirements, which afford us to have a mass casualty training, come into play. Everything worked smoothly like clockwork and those people were taken off the plane." News: Remains found in JetBlue landing gear after landing in Florida identified as 2 teenagers Crash under investigation According to the airport, the plane was removed from the water per approval from the National Transportation Safety Board. All four passengers and the pilot were rescued and taken to a hospital. They suffered from minor injuries but considered to be alert and in stable condition. As of early Tuesday morning, only one remains hospitalized and another was transported to a different facility. Commercial Air Traffic on the airport's main runway was shut down, however according to Southwest Oregon Regional Airport, "the quick authorization for its removal from the water assisted with reopening the airport's main runway to air traffic." "The aircraft is currently being stored near the incident site until the NTSB can conduct and complete its evaluation," the airport continued. The Federal Aviation Administration has also launched an investigation. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Private jet crashes into water after skidding off Oregon airport runway

Five passengers were hospitalised when a private jet crash landed into a bay after overshooting a runway in Oregon on Monday. The corporate aircraft skidded off a runway at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport yesterday morning (7 April). According to FlightAware tracking data, the plane was inbound from St. George Regional Airport (SGU) in Utah. Southwest Oregon Regional Airport said that the 2019 Honda HA-420 aircraft splashed into Coos Bay after it overshot the east end of the airport's runway 23. The small plane 'came to rest in about five feet of water, approximately 100 feet of the runway', it added. Emergency response units were dispatched to the scene around 6.12am All four passengers and the pilot were rescued from the water and transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital for minor injuries. A hospital spokeswoman said that all five patients had arrived 'alert and oriented'. As of Monday evening, three had been discharged while one remained in Coos Bay, and another was sent to a facility with 'services not available at Bay Area Hospital'. The Honda aircraft was removed from the water following authorisation from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) at 10am. An NTSB investigation will evaluate the aircraft following the incident. Southwest Oregon Regional Airport thanked 'all first responders, agencies, and personnel involved in the coordinated response and ongoing investigation'. According to the airport, general aviation traffic was not impacted by the incident, and one runway remained open during the incident. It's not the first time a private jet has crashed this year. On 10 February, an aircraft veered off a runway in Arizona and hit a business jet, killing one person. The fatal crash killed 78-year-old Joie Vitosky, one of the two pilots on board, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.
