Paddy McGuinness breaks silence on Soccer Aid match after performance divides fans

Bolton's Paddy McGuinness has reflected on his 'chin wag with Julia Roberts' yesterday following the Soccer Aid charity match. Paddy McGuinness posed with celebrity pals such as Tom Hiddleston, Wayne Rooney and Bella Ramsey this weekend following the Soccer Aid charity football match. Taking to his Instagram, Paddy said: "Yesterday I was having a chin wag with Julia Roberts. Today I'm eating Spag Bol out of a plastic tray.I love this game!!! 😄" The comedian and TV presenter, Paddy joined this year's England team along with former Manchester United player Gary Neville and singer Tom Grennan. The star also took to jokingly issuing a police appeal on his social media account with footballer Carlos Tevez, addressing his followers: 'Police are looking to contact this man in connection with an assault that took place in the Old Trafford area of Manchester last night. 'We urge members of the public not to approach him.' Paddy's performance at the charity matches left fans divided. READ MORE: Taking to social media, one commenter said: 'You did your best Paddy, great match and great entertainment!' Another added: 'Bloody hell Paddy I know it was a charity game but that's the worst performance from a goalkeeper I've seen at the Stratford End since Onanas last outing.' A third chimed in: 'Hope you don't get too much stick. A former world class striker that took the game way too serious scored 4 past a comedian playing a charity game. There was always only going to be one winner here.' The match raised £15,280,163 for UNICEF's vital work helping children grow up safe, healthy and able to play. This year, with thanks to the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, every donation made up to £5 million was doubled. Thanks to the generous UK public, this year's fundraising amount sees the current total reach over £121million raised since 2006 - when UNICEF UK Ambassador Robbie Williams founded the concept. The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out Old Trafford football stadium in Manchester to an audience of over 70,000 people. The match ended 5-4 to World XI FC, stealing the win back and keeping the overall lead with 8-6 wins since the inaugural 2006 match.
