Police distribute volleyball, clothes in Maoist-hit village
Bhadrachalam: In a bid to appease villagers and brake the support system of Maoists, the district police organised a community connect programme in Chennapuram, a village bordering Chhattisgarh State in Cherla mandal on Tuesday. The police thoroughly inspected every house in this village, which is a Maoist-affected area. Later, they met with all the villagers and distributed clothes and essential items to the women and children living there. Similarly, volleyball kits were also given to the youth of the village. Speaking on this occasion, Bhadrachalam ASP Vikrant Kumar Singh said that the Police department will always stand by the tribal people living in Maoist-affected areas. He said that they are working with the aim of providing basic facilities like education, medical care and transport to the tribal people under the leadership of district SP Rohit Raju. He advised the villagers to immediately inform the police if any new people enter the village and not to provide any help or assistance to the banned Maoists. Youth, children and women living in 90 families of the village participated in this program. Cherlla CI Raju Varma, SIs Kesava, Narsi Reddy and CRPF and Special Party personnel participated in this programme.

14 CPI (Maoist) members surrender in Telangana; security heightened after encounter in Karregutta
HANAMKONDA: Fourteen members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered before the Multi Zone-1 IGP S Chandrashekhar Reddy in Warangal Police Commissionerate Headquarters on Thursday. The IGP told the media that two area committee members, seven party members, one militia commander and four militia members had surrendered. The two ACMs each carry a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on their heads. Security intensified after encounter in Karregutta Khammam: Security has been beefed up along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border following a fierce encounter between Maoists and security forces in the Karregutta forests in which as many as six Maoists were reportedly killed. Given the proximity of the encounter site to Telangana, additional forces — including Greyhounds, Special Party units and the CRPF — have been deployed to prevent Maoist infiltration.

Tirupati police get hands-on training on emergency strike response
The Police Department launched an eleven-day orientation programme in 'Room Intervention' for its personnel in Tirupati district to train them in the nuances of responding to emergency strikes and extremist attacks. The programme began at the A.R. Parade ground here on Wednesday, where cops from the Armed Reserve, Special Party and Civil Police departments were given hands-on training. Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju organised the event to prepare them in the know-how of dealing with attacks, keeping the situation under control and informing the higher-ups, before the arrival of special forces. 'In case of a bomb threat call, the local police should be alerted. Details such as the informant's identity, call details, number of persons at the spot, blue print of the building and others should be clearly noted down. The civilians in the vicinity should be cleared before the arrival of special forces', Deputy Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve) Ravindra Reddy explained to them. The police were also explained the importance of cutting supply to utilities such as gas, electricity and water in order to reduce the impact of a probable blast. Later, they participated in a 'mock lightning attack' drill and broke into a building.
