'Friday Night Lights' Actor, 45, Reveals Surprising Connection to Justin Timberlake
'Friday Night Lights' Actor, 45, Reveals Surprising Connection to Justin Timberlake originally appeared on Parade. Friday Night Lights actor Scott Porter shared a never-to-forget moment with Justin Timberlake before they were stars. Porter also has a musical talent, which Hart of Dixie fans know. The actor recently shed light on his days in VoicePlay. Porter was a founding member of the group, where he honed his beatboxing up for NSYNC on their first tour in the '90s. Speaking with Page Six to promote the new season of Ginny & Georgia, Porter recalled a special moment with Timberlake. 'There was one particular performance that I remember. We were singing on a floating stage in the middle of a lake and had to take a little boat on the way out. And we didn't spend a lot of time with NSYNCat all,' he expressed. 'But on that particular stage, we had to all go out together on this boat. So Justin and I were beatboxing with each other on this boat.' Porter explained that years later, he was filming Speed Racer in Berlin when Timberlake was playing a concert there. The actor recalled Timberlake recognizing him backstage at the concert, but not from Friday Night Lights. 'He [Timberlake] goes, you're the beatboxer that I beatboxed with on that boat to that floating stage in Florida.' I don't know how Justin Timberlake even remembered that, but he did, and that was pretty cool,' Porter shared. It was quite the trip down memory lane for Porter and his fans, too. Some of his fans, though, were more shocked by his VoicePlay news than the Timberlake story. 'how did it not know he was the founder of freaking VoicePlay,' and 'HE'S A FOUNDING MEMBER OF VOICEPLAY?!?!?!' were a couple of comments on the Page Six TikTok featuring Porter's interview. 'Friday Night Lights' Actor, 45, Reveals Surprising Connection to Justin Timberlake first appeared on Parade on Jun 10, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 10, 2025, where it first appeared.

Speed Racer reboot 2025: Classic anime returns as dark western comic universe
After nearly 60 years, one of anime's most legendary icons is shifting gears for a bold comeback. Speed Racer—originally released as Mach GoGoGo in 1966 by Tatsuo Yoshida—is getting a high-octane reboot in 2025, this time as a modern Western comic series. Mad Cave Studios , in collaboration with Japan's Tatsunoko Production, will lead the charge with a brand-new interpretation of the beloved franchise, beginning on Free Comic Book Day, May 3. Speed Racer reimagined for a new generation The new comic reboot drops Speed into the neon-lit underground racing scene of Palm City, where danger lurks around every corner and the stakes are higher than ever. Far from the family-friendly tone of the original, this version embraces a darker, more intense world. The lead title is written by David Pepose (known for his work on Space Ghost) and illustrated by Davide Tinto, whose dynamic style pays homage to the anime's legacy while pushing it into a modern visual direction. Described by Pepose as 'Rocky in a race car,' the series blends gritty realism with high-speed thrills, turning Speed's story into a fight for survival as his family becomes entangled with a criminal syndicate. The reboot promises to deliver a more emotionally complex take on the iconic racer while keeping the action fast and furious. Shared universe launches with Racer x and spin-off series This isn't just a single-series revival. Mad Cave's reboot expands Speed Racer into a full comic book universe. Alongside the main title, fans will get a standalone Racer X series , written by Mark Russell. This series will explore the psychological and emotional struggles of Speed's enigmatic older brother, offering a more personal look at the man behind the mask. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo A third title, Speed Racer: Tales from the Road, will dive into the lives of side characters, untold backstories, and hidden corners of the Speed Racer world. ‘Adolescence': Why Do Detectives Investigating Jamie Look So Familiar?
Ashley Walters and Faye Marsay in "Adolescence." Netflix The first two episodes of the Netflix hit Adolescence feature Ashley Walters and Faye Marsay in the key roles of the detectives investigating Jamie. What else have the actors appeared in? Adolescence was released on March 13 and has since become a global streaming sensation on Netflix. Owen Cooper is at the center of the four-part limited series as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy in England who is accused of stabbing to death a female classmate. Each of the four episodes is presented in real-time and unfolds in one take. Walters and Marsay star as Detective Inspector Luke Bascome and Detective Sergeant Misha Frank, who in Episode 1 apprehend Jamie and his family's home and interrogate the teen in the presence of his father, Eddie (Stephen Graham) at the police station. In Episode 2, which is Day 3 of the case, Bascombe and Frank go to Jamie's school to gather information and with any luck, find the murder weapon. Episode 3, which is set seven months later, finds Jamie being interviewed by child psychologist Briony Ariston (Erin Doherty) at a juvenile detention facility. Episode 4, set 13 months after the murder, finds Eddie, his wife Manda (Christine Tremarco) and their daughter and Jamie's sister, Lisa (Amelie Pease), as they continue to cope with murder as the teen awaits trial. Both Walters and Marsay have had prolific screen careers. Walters' first role dates back to 1992 when he played Omar in a guest role in the ABC-TV adventure series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, which starred Sean Patrick Flannery as the young Indy. Since then, Walters has appeared in more than 80 roles, but largely in British film and television productions. Among his U.S. credits are the Lana and Lilly Wachowski 2008 live-action adaptation of the hit manga series Speed Racer (in which he played the small role of Prince Kabala) and 2006's Stormbreaker — aka Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker — (where he plays the minor character of Wolf). More recently, Walters appears in a supporting role A Thousand Blows, a historical drama series that made its debut on Hulu on Feb. 21. A Thousand Blows also stars Graham and Doherty. Marsay's career dates back to 2008, when she appeared in a small role in the British drama Helen. Since then, Marsay has amassed 27 more screen credits in British and American film and television, including guest roles on Black Mirror and Doctor Who, and supporting roles in such films as Pride and Darkest Hour. Marsay also starred in the 2014 British miniseries Glue, an eight-episode crime drama that was created by Jack Thorne, the writer-producer who teamed with Graham to create Adolescence. Below are some of Walters and Marsey's biggest roles before their starring turns in Adolescence. Ashley Walters plays Antwan, who is a close friend of Marcus (Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson) in Get Rich or Die Tryin', a crime drama that contains autobiographical elements of 50 Cent's life. The name of the film — which marked 50 Cent's acting debut — was inspired by the rap star's 2003 multiplatinum debut album. Directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In America), the film also stars Terrence Howard, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Joy Bryant and Viola Davis. Faye Marsay (center) in "The White Queen." BBC/STARZ Faye Marsay's breakthrough role happened in 2013 when she was cast as Anne Neville, The Kingmaker's Daughter, in the British drama series The White Queen opposite Rebecca Ferguson. Marsay appeared in all 10 episodes of the miniseries, which also stars Max Irons, Aneurin Barnard, Juliet Aubrey, Eleanor Tomlinson and Janet McTeer. Ashley Walters stars as Police Constable Ryan Draper in all eight episodes of Cuffs, a British miniseries that examines frontline policing in Bristol, England. Also starring Jacob Ifan and Amanda Abbington, Cuffs ran on BBC One and streams on Acorn TV. Faye Marsay in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. HBO/Macall B. Polay Faye Marsay appeared in the recurring role of The Waif in four episodes of HBO's Game of Thrones Season 5 in 2015 and seven episodes in Season 6 in 2016. The Waif perished at the hands of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in Season 6 Episode 8. Ashley Walters in "Top Boy." Netflix/Chris Harris Ashley Walters stars as Dushane, who along with Sully (Kane Robinson) are a pair of drug kingpins in London in Top Boy, a British crime drama that ran for five seasons. The first two seasons of Top Boy ran on Channel 4 in the U.K., and in 2019 Netflix acquired it at which time it became a Netflix original. The series streams on Netflix as Top Boy and Top Boy: Summer House. Faye Marsay in "Andor." Disney+/Lucasfilm Ltd. Faye Marsay stars as Vel Sartha, a Rebel leader on the planet Aldhani in eight episodes of Season 1 of Andor, which is a Disney+ prequel series to the 2016 movie hit Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Vel, who is a cousin of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) will return in the second season of Andor, which will begin streaming on Disney+ on April 22. Andor, of course, is named for series star Diego Luna's character Cassian Andor and also stars Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough and Varada Sethu. All four episodes of Adolescence are streaming on Netflix.

Watch This Mini Movie About The 1955 Le Mans
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious There are too few good animated movies about cars. Sure, we have Pixar's Cars movies and there used to be Transformers and Speed Racer, but these days there aren't many around. If you haven't seen the short film below by Q. Baillieux about the deadly accident at the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans, it's a rare gem. Not only is it a good animated movie involving car culture, it treats a tragedy with artful dignity. As they say, those who don't remember history are doomed to live the same mistakes. While the deadly crash in France might be painful to remember, it's better that we do and learn from what happened as well as why. Certainly, nobody wants another 80-plus people dying because a race car lands in the spectator stands at a track. Wrapped into the story of tragedy is also one of dedication and pain. After all, endurance racing isn't for the weak-willed, but at the same time when a team member is killed you can't look the other way, and that duality really comes through in this film. Even with a horrific crash and so many lives lost the race continued when they easily could have called it off, although Mercedes-Benz pulled out. Today the decision to not cancel the competition right then would likely get savaged on Twitter or other social media sites by the armchair admirals who seem to take up residence on such platforms. Yes, there was criticism of that decision back then, but no considerable efforts were made to all-out cancel the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a result. You can argue about the best ways to memorialize Mercedes-Benz driver Pierre Levegh, but continuing to race could and was viewed as one option. After all, the man was a race car driver and knew going into the competition what kind of risks he was assuming, yet he still strapped on his helmet and pushed that car to its limits. With 22 hours of the race left, the decision was made by some to carry on. Incidentally, the tragedy did cause some people to not continue. Mercedes-Benz ended its motorsports programs at the end of the 1955 season, not returning until 1988. Switzerland banned circuit racing until 2007. Meanwhile, officials in France decided to increase the distance between spectators and the track to help prevent another tragedy.
