Darul Makmur Stadium Grass Pitch Receives FIFA Nod
KUANTAN, May 30 (Bernama) -- The Darul Makmur Stadium here scored a landmark precedent when its natural grass pitch became the first in Malaysia to receive certification from world governing body FIFA through its Quality Programme for Natural Playing Surfaces. Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said the certificate was issued after the pitch passed a comprehensive assessment by a FIFA-appointed consultancy company, Acousto-Scan Pty Ltd, on April 23 and 24. "The pitch received an excellent rating with a score of 93 per cent after the assessment was conducted covering three main components, namely climate testing, sports performance testing and agronomic testing," he said at a press conference here today. bootstrap slideshow Fadzli also said the assessment included aspects such as soil temperature, humidity, ball bounce, surface hardness, root system, weed content and soil health. "This recognition marks a major success in the technical and maintenance aspects of the national sports field. "I was informed that the 'Bermuda Tifgrand' grass on this field is the first to be planted outside Japan, besides this field having three layers and a water drainage system underneath to speed up the water absorption rate," he said. The field was built and upgraded according to strict FIFA specifications by local contractor, RS Greenmaster (M) Sdn Bhd, which played an important role in this success. The field upgrade project involved a cost of RM1.6 million, of which RM500,000 was contributed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports while RM1.1 million was borne by the state government. He said the contractor had already given them the green light to use the field but it would only be used in one or two months.

RXZ Fighter 3.0 likely to remain in Kuantan largely due to accommodation concerns
KUANTAN: There are plans to host the RXZ Fighter 3.0 gathering outside the state capital next year, but the main challenge lies in ensuring adequate accommodation for participants. State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman, Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, said Kuantan is still the most suitable location for the third edition next year. "It is true that I received a lot of feedback suggesting that we host the RXZ Fighter gathering for the biker community in other districts. However, Kuantan has the advantage of a strategic location and ample accommodation, including hotels and homestays for participants "If the organisers choose other districts, we would have to identify a suitable venue, and accommodation could become a major issue especially as hotels may not be able to handle the large number of participants coming from across the country," he told reporters after closing the RXZ Fighter 2.0 gathering at Teluk Cempedak yesterday. There have been calls to hold the RXZ Fighter event outside Kuantan due to its potential positive spillover effects on tourism and the local economy, boosting demand for hotel rooms, homestays, souvenir sales, and restaurants during the event. After the inaugural edition held at Serambi Kuantan last year drew around 50,000 participants, the two-day event that concluded yesterday attracted approximately 70,000 motorcycle enthusiasts, including riders from Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. Meanwhile, Fadzli, who represented Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at the event, said the gathering also serves as a platform to educate riders on road safety and the importance of respecting other road users. "Even during the promotional videos on social media and in my speech at the gathering, I consistently emphasised that safety must always remain the top priority. "While we are here to celebrate youths and the passion of the biking community, we must first prioritise personal safety, the safety of the participants' families, and that of other road users," he said. On May 2, a 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed and two others seriously injured after a collision at KM430 of the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 in Terengganu. The trio were travelling from Kelantan to attend the RXZ Fighter gathering here. Meanwhile, Fadzli described the event this year as a major success, especially after most hotels and homestays were fully booked since Friday, with some participants forced to set up tents along the beach overnight. "We received overwhelming support from riders across the country, as well as from groups in Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. We will begin early preparations for RXZ Fighter 3.0 next year," he said.

Safety first, says exco ahead of massive RXZ bike gathering in Kuantan
KUANTAN: As the highly anticipated RXZ Fighter 2.0 gathering kicks off at Teluk Cempedak today, a Pahang executive council member has reminded motorcycle enthusiasts to prioritise safety at all times. State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal advised biking enthusiasts travelling from across the country to the state capital here to adhere to traffic regulations and respect other road users. "All participants should remember that safety must be adhered to during their ride to the event in Kuantan. Ride carefully, and keep your loved ones and families in mind. "Participants must ensure that their motorcycles are roadworthy before making the trip. Although the event celebrates the biking community through various programmes, safety remains the utmost priority," he said in a Facebook posting. Last year, two motorcyclists who were travelling to attend the RXZ Fighter gathering here were involved in separate road accidents along the East Coast Expressway. The two-day event, which starts at noon today, will conclude tomorrow. Meanwhile, Fadzli said the second edition this weekend follows the success of the inaugural RXZ Fighter event held at Serambi Teruntum here last year. "Last year, around 50,000 participants attended the gathering, and we expect a bigger turnout this year. This event is more than just a gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts as it serves as a platform for youth empowerment, tourism promotion, and social engagement," he said. Meanwhile, event organiser Kelab Permotoran RXZ, in a statement, said that participants stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes worth approximately RM400,000, including a pick-up truck and RXZ motorcycles. The event will also feature five Pahang-born riders currently competing in the 2025 Malaysian Petronas Cub Prix, who will showcase their bike-handling skills.
