SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP)– The person who was found dead near the Riverfront bike path in Springfield Tuesday morning has been identified. According to the Hampden District Attorney's office, the victim has been identified as Meggan Meredith, age 45. The woman's death comes amid rumors circulating online about a possible New England serial killer following the deaths of seven and now eight people, mostly women, between March and April in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. As of Friday, authorities have not announced any kind of connection between the eight victims' deaths. It is unclear how the woman in Springfield died, and the local medical examiner is conducting an autopsy, but Hamden County DA Anthony Gulluni said his office is thoroughly investigating each act of violence in the Springfield community. Man dies after being struck by train on Fieldston Street in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man has died Saturday morning after being struck by a train in the area of Fieldston Street. Bicyclist killed after hit and run crash in Springfield Springfield Police Department Spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that officers received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a train at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Officers arrived at the train tracks in the area behind the 100 block of Fieldston Street where the victim was found. The victim passed away from his injuries at the location. The Springfield Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating this incident. 22News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
