Nobody's Child digital chief exits for Dubai-based Squatwolf

Nobody's Child's e-commerce and digital director Chris Bishop has quit the fast-growing fashion retailer to take up the role of e-commerce director at Dubai-based sportswear company Squatwolf. Bishop vacated his position last month having been with Nobody's Child September 2022. In a LinkedIn post, he said: 'After three transformative growth years, it's time to close my chapter at NC. I trust I've demonstrated what can be achieved with a customer behaviour obsession and a relentless drive to improve and outperform. We've gone from a start-up who internally celebrated on Whatsapp when we saw someone wearing 'NC in the wild', to a brand besting all the retail benchmarks.' He also told Retail Technology Innovation Hub of his time at Nobody's Child: 'Highlights have included replatforming and redesigning the website, profitably acquiring hundreds of thousands of new customers and doubling their lifetime value, onboarding 50+ new partners, and helping to fit out a few physical stores. 'A true highlight has been building the e-commerce & Digital team from the ground up. I had the pleasure of recruiting each one of them, and it's been a privilege to mentor, challenge, and support their growth.' Before joining Nobody's Child he worked as an independent e-commerce and marketing consultant for six years, working with companies ranging from high growth start-ups to £100m turnover. Other positions included interim chief marketing officer at Sigma Sports and interim e-commerce director at fashion rental platform MyWardrobe HQ . In his new position, Bishop will work alongside Squatwolf founders Anam Khalid and Wajdan Gul on accelerating the growth of the gymwear brand which is already available in 120 countries. In 2023, the company raised $30m in a Series B funding round, which was being used to expand its omnichannel presence and develop its product lines.

Nobody's Child e-commerce director exits for Dubai brand Squatwolf

Chris Bishop, the e-commerce and digital director of Nobody's Child, has exited the British fashion brand to take up a similar role at Dubai-based sportswear company Squatwolf. Bishop announced his appointment on LinkedIn, where he said he was 'happy to share that I'm starting a new position as e-commerce director at Squatwolf'. Until May 2025, Bishop had been in his now former role at Nobody's Child since September 2022. He had joined the brand after serving as a self-employed business, e-commerce and marketing consultant over the course of six years. During this time, he worked with companies ranging from high growth startups to 100 million pound turnover firms. Among these were names like UK-based bicycling company Sigma Sports, where he was interim chief marketing officer, and fashion rental platform MyWardrobeHQ, as interim e-commerce director. In his new position, Bishop will work alongside Squatwolf founders Anam Khalid and Wajdan Gul on accelerating the growth of the gymwear brand. Founded in 2016, Squatwolf has experienced significant growth in its lifetime, expanding beyond the Middle East to serve consumers in over 120 countries, its LinkedIn page states. In 2023, the company raised 30 million dollars in a Series B funding round, which was to be used to expand its omnichannel presence and develop its product lines.

Venture builder Disrupt.com to invest $100m to fuel AI-first startups from the UAE

UAE-based venture builder announced a $100 million commitment to build and back AI-first technology ventures globally. The firm's $100 million commitment targets five strategic sectors: artificial intelligence as a cross-cutting theme, plus cybersecurity, Web 3.0, automotive technology, and retail innovation. The company said it primarily targets pre-seed to Series A stage startups that demonstrate strong organic growth potential and clear paths to profitability. The announcement comes as regional funding has declined sharply, with MENA venture capital investment down 29 per cent to just under $2 billion in 2024, according to Magnitt. Global AI venture funding said its current portfolio showcases its model's effectiveness, including ZigChain, a Web3.0 platform that has scaled to over 500,000 users and hundreds of millions in managed assets; PureSquare, a cybersecurity venture; and UAE-homegrown fitness apparel brand Squatwolf. The firm has already deployed capital as a strategic investor in several AI-focused startups including organizational transformation platform Agentnoon and climate action scaling tool Ahya. Founded by Aaqib Gadit, Uzair Gadit, and Umair Gadit – three Pakistani university friends who grew up in the same household – represents the founders' reinvestment of capital following their successful 2022 exit of cloud hosting platform Cloudways to US-listed Digital Ocean Holdings. The founders are now channelling their entrepreneurial expertise and capital back into the ecosystem through a unique venture-building approach from their UAE headquarters. 'Now is the time to be doubling down on our experience, financial investment and commitment required to help build the next wave of startups that will shape the future of the world as we know it,' said Aaqib Gadit, founding partner of 'With Web 3.0 in its infancy and AI storming into our lives, the opportunity to problem solve and create businesses that will fit the needs of how people live and work is up for the taking,' he said.
