Brahmin associations take out silent march over ‘sacred thread' row in Shivamogga
Shivamogga
Brahmin associations of Shivamogga on Monday took out a silent march in the city, condemning recent incidents in which Brahmin students were allegedly forced to remove the 'sacred thread' while appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CET) in different places across the State.
The march, which began from Raghavendra Swamy Mutt at Durgigudi to the Deputy Commissioner's office, was led by leaders of the Sri Vishwamadhwa Mahaparishath and office-bearers of Brahmin associations. S.N. Channabasappa, MLA, K.B. Prasanna Kumar, former MLA, and others participated in the silent march.
They submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner's office demanding action against the officers responsible for the incidents.
