Sanskrit univ's Jaipur campus offers LLB in Bharatiya Jurisprudence

Jaipur: The Jaipur campus of Central Sanskrit University (CSU) now offers an innovative LLB (Hons) course in Bharatiya Jurisprudence, enabling students to study the Indian legal system alongside Sanskrit.
The course is taught in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English, depending on students' preferences.
Launched last year under the guidance of vice-chancellor Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi, the program is rooted in the Indian knowledge tradition. Prof Sudesh Kumar Sharma, Director of the Jaipur campus, said, "This Jurisprudence course bridges traditional and modern thought, setting an ideal for society and the judicial system."
The course integrates ancient Indian legal scriptures such as Yajnavalkya Smriti, Narada Smriti, Manusmriti, and Kautilya's Arthashastra, with modern legal frameworks including the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Officials said the program aims to instill human values, ethics, integrity, and a strong sense of justice in students.
Head of department Prof Krishna Sharma added, "Combining traditional Indian jurisprudence with modern law in this three-year LLB degree makes the course highly informative and engaging."

While CSU admissions typically require the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), this course also offers a separate entrance exam. Applications are open until May 31, with the entrance exam scheduled for June 15. Results will be announced on June 30, followed by counselling and fee submission from July 2 to July 10.
