Cannabis plants, valued at more than $11M, seized from illegal grow op
Ontario Provincial Police say 11,475 cannabis plants were seized from an illegal operation in St. Williams, a community located between Turkey Point and Long Point.
Police were alerted to the grow op by Health Canada. They said it was 'being grown in contravention of the issued registrations.'
The OPP's Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Urban Search and Rescue, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Response Team, searched the property on April 24.
Besides the plants, officers found approximately 75 lbs. of dried and processed cannabis.
The value of the drugs is estimated at $11.5 million.
OPP said they continue to investigate, adding that charges will be laid 'if applicable.'
