Eric Roy set to extend stay at Brest
Eric Roy's future with Stade Brestois has been a topic of discussion all season. The Frenchman has brought Brest far, taking the club from a relegation battle to the UEFA Champions League in just the space of just 18 months, and without any significant investment. Despite their meagre means, Brest compete in Europe, progressing to the play-off phase before being on the receiving end of a 10-0 hammering of Paris Saint-Germain. Les Brestois' form in Ligue 1 has been inconsistent, although until a fortnight ago, they had harboured hopes of a return to Europe. Sunday's defeat to Olympique de Marseille (3-1) put an end to that hope. Advertisement With nothing to play for, attention has once again turned to Roy's future with the club. His current contract expires at the end of the season and the Frenchman recently revealed that talks over a renewal had resumed, although there had been little progress. Mohamed Toubache-Ter now understands that there is now progress towards a two-year extension. That looks to be the tendency with the ball very much in Roy's court. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Columbus Crew interested in Brest's Mama Baldé
According to a report from L'Équipe, the Columbus Crew are considering a deal to bring Stade Brestois winger Mama Baldé (29) to the MLS. The Guinea-Bissau international has attracted the interest of the team coached by Frenchman Wilfried Nancy, and if the American club's conversations with their French counterparts are successful, a four-year contract is on offer. However, negotiations between the Ligue 1 side and the sixth-placed team in the Eastern conference have only just begun. The French outlet writes that Brest have not opened the door to a departure for a player who only arrived at the club during the summer following a €4.5 million move from Olympique Lyonnais. This season, Baldé, who can play as either a winger or a wing-back, was able to experience Champions League football for the first time in his career. However, a return to a European competition looks to be a slim (but not impossible) prospect with Les Pirates 9th in the table with eight games remaining. GFFN | Nick Hartland

Brest predicted XI Auxerre: Romain Del Castillo out
After having played Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, and ahead of the second leg of their play-off on Wednesday, Stade Brestois are expected to play a weaker side as they prepare to face AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1 on Saturday night. The likes of Ludovic Ajorque, Abdallah Sima, Pierre Lees-Melou, Mahdi Camara, Brendan Chardonnet and Kenny Lala are all expected to be rested for Brest. It will therefore be something of a second-string XI against an Auxerre side looking for their first league win since February. In terms of absences, Jordan Amavi and Bradley Locko both remain out, limiting Eric Roy's options at left-back, whilst Jonas Martin and Romain Del Castillo also miss out on this encounter. Hugo Magnetti is expected to captain Brest, whilst Mama Baldé will lead the line. Marco Bizot; Massadio Haïdara, Abdoulaye Ndiaye, Julien Le Cardinal, Luc Zogbé; Hugo Magnetti, Edimilson Fernandes; Ibrahim Salah, Kamory Doumbiá, Mathias Pereira Lage; Mama Baldé.
