Stafford County schools offer free meals for kids during summer break
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. () — With summer inching closer, the Stafford County Public Schools Department of Nutrition Services is working to ensure children have access to warm meals.
While school is out, students in Stafford County can eat breakfast or lunch for free at seven schools across the district.
The school district noted that meals will be available for any student 18 and younger, and meals must be consumed at the following schools:
Anne E. Moncure Elementary School (June 9 to July 3)Closed: June 13, 19, 20 and 27
Anthony Burns Elementary School (June 9 to July 3) Closed: June 13, 19, 20 and 27
Conway Elementary School (June 9 to July 3)Closed: June 13, 19, 20 and 27
Rocky Run Elementary School (June 9 to July 3)
Closed: June 13, 19, 20 and 27
Widewater Elementary School (June 9 to July 11)
Closed: June 19 and 20 and July 3 and 4
Edward E. Drew Middle School (June 16 to July 3) Closed: June 19, 20 and 27
Shirley C. Heim Middle School (June 9 to July 18) Closed: June 13, 19, 20 and 27, and July 4

According to the school district, breakfast will be served at elementary schools from 8 – 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. – noon. Breakfast at middle schools will be served from 9-9:30 a.m. and lunch from noon- 12:30 p.m.
As part of the Summer Food Service Program, meals or meal kits will also be prepared and given to children on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents/guardians of children who do not eat meals at one of the seven schools can pick up meals at the following sites once a week:
*Meals will include seven breakfasts and seven lunches.
