The Bolton branch of a chippy chain has been nominated for an award. Mother Hubbard's on St Helens Road is one of the 10 finalists for the Bolton News Best Chippy Award. Bolton News readers have been nominating their favourite fish and chip shops in the borough. The "traditional" chain has been serving up its hearty food since 1972, when it was founded on Ingleby Road in Bradford. It was opened on May 3 of that year by Coronation Street favourites, Stan & Hilda Ogden, played by Bernard Youens and Jean Alexander. At that time, fish and chips were served at just 45p per portion.
