Telangana Government Ensures Smooth and Record-Breaking Paddy Procurement: Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy
Gadwal: Telangana State Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that the paddy procurement process must be carried out smoothly and efficiently, ensuring that farmers do not face any inconvenience. On Friday, the minister, along with State Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, conducted a video conference with district collectors from Hyderabad to review the ongoing paddy procurement process. During the conference, the minister stressed that procurement should proceed uninterrupted despite the unseasonal rains. He directed officials to ensure the availability of tarpaulins at procurement centers to protect the harvested paddy from moisture damage. He further instructed that all required logistical and infrastructure arrangements be made to transport the procured paddy promptly to rice mills. The minister also insisted that immediate payment be made to farmers for the procured paddy, and urged district collectors to monitor field-level operations closely. District Collector BM Santhosh Updates Progress Jogulamba Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santhosh provided an update during the meeting, stating that the procurement process is being conducted smoothly and transparently without any irregularities. He estimated that a record-breaking 1.38 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected from the district this season. So far, 50,000 metric tonnes have already been procured, and payments have been credited directly to farmers' bank accounts without delay. An additional 88,000 metric tonnes remain to be collected. He compared this year's figures with the previous year, when only 2,109 metric tonnes of paddy were procured in the district by May 15, 2024, and Rs. 5.65 crore was paid to farmers. In contrast, this year, as of May 15, 2025, 50,834 metric tonnes have been procured, and Rs. 55.89 lakh has already been disbursed to the farmers. Collector Santhosh highlighted that the influx of paddy at procurement centers indicates a massive 2,500% increase in procurement compared to the previous year. He assured that the government is committed to purchasing every single grain of paddy brought by farmers. Officials Participating in the Video Conference The video conference was attended by District Additional Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsing Rao, District Civil Supplies Manager Vimala, District Cooperative Officer Srinivas, District Marketing Officer Pushpamma, Agriculture Officer Sakriya Naik, and several other key officials. This comprehensive initiative underscores the Telangana government's commitment to supporting farmers by ensuring a smooth procurement process, timely payments, and strong logistical support amidst challenging weather conditions.

Nadendla swings into action to quench parched throats of tribals
Eluru: Ministers or officials often visit tribal areas and give promises that will mostly remain unfulfilled. Tribals got surprised when a different thing to the usual course happened to their lives, after the visit of a minister recently. As part of his district tour, State Civil Supplies and District In-charge Minister Nadendla Manohar visited tribal areas for two days to understand their problems and issued orders on the spot to resolve them. On the April 23, when he visited Puliramudigudem in Buttaigudem mandal, the people there said that they were facing a lot of drinking water problems and requested that the same be resolved. Responding to this matter, the Minister immediately took a permanent solution to the drinking water problem of the tribals in that area and ordered the ITDA Project Officer and RWS officials to supply drinking water through tankers. The district administration has taken special measures on the orders of the minister. RWS officials are immediately supplying safe drinking water to every household through tankers every day. As a permanent solution to the problem, the Gram Panchayat has sanctioned Rs 2.50 lakh for the establishment of an RO plant. Minister Manohar has instructed the officials to start the work soon. In addition, the state government has released Rs 971.80 lakh to solve the drinking water problem in the district along with the tribal areas. Of this, Rs 501.43 lakh are earmarked for Gram Panchayats under the 15th Finance Commission funding and Rs 270.37 lakh for Mandal Praja Parishads. Through them, repairs of hand pumps and repairs of protected drinking water schemes are ongoing. Funds of Rs 41.55 lakh have been sanctioned under the 15th Commission grant and Rs 20 lakh under Mandal Praja Parishad finance funding to provide drinking water through water tanks in tribal areas of Polavaram constituency. In the past, many ministers and public representatives came to know about their problems and gave promises, but they did not solve them. However, the district in-charge minister Nadendla Manohar not only implemented the promises made and took steps to permanently solve the drinking water problem in their village, but also sanctioned lakhs of rupees for the drinking water problem in tribal areas. The people of Puliramudugudem are expressing their gratitude, saying that the people of their village will be indebted to him for the rest of their lives.

Better living conditions for Polavaram evacuees promised
Eluru / Battaigudem / Jilugumilli: State Civil Supplies Minister and District In-charge Minister Nadendla Manohar said that a special plan will be formulated and implemented to provide better living conditions to the Polavaram Project displaced persons. He handed over Antyodaya Anna Yojana cards to the displaced persons at R&R Colony in Reddy Ganapavaram of Buttaigudem mandal on Tuesday. On the occasion, the Minister enquired about the problems of the displaced persons in the colony. Speaking on the occasion, he said that his government will never forget the sacrifices of the 35,000 displaced persons who vacated their lands for the construction of the most prestigious national multipurpose irrigation project, the Polavaram Project, and the government will support them in every way. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to Polavaram, responded positively to the problems of the displaced and ordered that steps be taken to ensure justice to the displaced. He said that the displaced are being provided with Antyodaya Anna Yojana cards for food security and they would get 35 kg of rice free of cost every month. He said that employment opportunities will be provided to the youth of the displaced families and a special survey will be conducted for this. The Minister instructed the officials to provide roads, drainage, drinking water, education, medical and other basic facilities in the rehabilitation colony within six months. The Minister instructed the officials to ensure that drinking water problems do not arise in the colonies under any circumstances and to supply water through tankers if necessary. The Minister said that Rs 27 crore has already been spent on road development in the Polavaram constituency in the last financial year and another Rs 20 crore will be sanctioned in the current financial year. He said that the displaced will be provided with full compensation as per the rules. He said that 4.64 crore rice card holders in the state are being provided with rice every month. The minister said that the issuance of new ration cards will be started soon. He said that the coalition government is giving equal priority to welfare as well as development and is providing Rs 2,700 crore as pension to 63 lakh people in the state every month. He said that the Talliki Vandanam scheme will be implemented from the next academic year. After participating in the programmes organised in Reddy Ganapavaram and Rautugudem villages on Tuesday for a two-day tour of Polavaram constituency, Minister Nadendla Manohar arrived at Barrinkalapadu to inaugurate Polavaram MLA Chirri Balaraju's camp office. The tribal people welcomed him with traditional tribal dances and music. The minister, who was impressed by their dance, wore the horns and danced with them. MLA Chirri Balaraju's family also participated in the joy of the tribals. State Civil Supplies Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, District Collector K Vetri Selvi, Joint Collector P Dhatri Reddy, ITDA PO Ramulu Nayak, Unguturu MLA Pathsamatla Dharmaraju, Tricar Chairman Boragam Srinivas, RTC Zonal Chairman Reddy Appalanaidu, RDO MV Ramana, Tahsildar Achyut, Jana Sena leaders Kotikalapudi Govindaraju, Karatam Sai, Gaddamanugu Ravi, local public representatives, and others participated in the programme.
