Former Congressman holds town hall in Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL)— With elections in the state of Texas drawing nearer by the day, former congressman Beto O'Rourke held a town hall meeting to discuss and educate voters on national and state issues.
Hundreds of Wichitans filled the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall at the MPEC to ask the former congressman questions about topics like State Senate Bill 2 on school vouchers, and international tariffs. Regardless of the questions asked, O'Rourke wanted to assure voters he was there to educate and meet voters on their level, no matter their political affiliation.
'We're way too divided, too polarized. We've got to work on things together,' O'Rourke said. 'So, having these meetings is really important and it should never matter our political background or the party we belong to. Before anything else we are Americans, we are Texans, we are human beings and it's time we started treating one another that way.'
O'Rourke also answered people's questions on due process and the recent cuts to federal agencies. O'Rourke's group, PoweredXPeople, has been holding town halls all over Texas in previous months and people from all political parties were invited to attend.
